Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Isaiah 35:1-10 KJV
1 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.
2 It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God.
3 Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.
4 Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.
7 And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
8 And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.
9 No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there:
10 And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

This morning I was thinking on the word bridges, and there really is not one bridge mentioned in scripture, yet it often a term used to explain how Christ intercedes on our behalf and is a bridge and a highway to God. Then I began to think in the day of Moses as the cross the Red sea without a bridge, without knowledge or desire of an intercessor. Moses was just a leader taking these people out to not only worship their God but to escape Pharaoh. On the other side of the Red sea should of been a place of tranquilty, peace, and no more stumbling blocks in the way to worshipping God. Sometimes our desire of freedom is not the same as our desire to worship God. True freedom comes with faith, but often our desire is what causes us to be shipwreck in a desert with only the fear of God in our hearts. Moses would become intercessor for the people in the desert as a teacher, leader, prophet, and minister of God. The need for a spiritual retreat in the desert ended with the first sin and continued into small rebellions against God. Not until the serpents began to bite did Israel finally reach up and say we need God to hear us. When that happened Moses prayed and God gave them a pole with a serpent on it, that all who looked to the serpent would be saved. However when they got to the promise land no one had enough faith to follow God's leading and so they had to remain in the wilderness until all that had been since the time of Egypt had died. A new generation would enter the promise land.

The bridge of faith begins with Christ, but sometimes we feel the need to have another pray for us, nothing wrong with asking for prayer, or having prayer support, but in truth we need to first pray for ourselves and talk to God. Jesus made a way for all believers to communicate with God the Father. God sent his Spirit to all believers in Christ and God the Father, that would follow and obey him in the path of righteousness(holiness).

Isaiah is a message to King Hezekiah and the believers of faith, about those of disobedience and those of obedience. Speaking of a time of exile as well as a time of joy would come, speaking of the Messiah and his healing power. Israel would be in exile seventy years before the preparation of Christ return came(the rebuilding of the Temple and the city of Jerusalem). Yet God was sending an intercessor to the people to bring the people to repentance and the knowledge of God the Father. The temple at the time of Christ should of been a place Jesus could of easily rested in hearing his own Father's words, but instead the temple had become a place of segregation under Roman rule, a place of purity of faith, and keeping from the gentiles. Gentiles should of been hearing the word but was not. They were not even allowed to help with the building of the Temple before Christ. Yet Christ goes into the desert and teaches and heals both Jews and Gentiles. He begins to gather the believers together as one in faith. Jesus speaking to more then one group of people to all that would hear.

There many roads we travel on in life, some highways being good and others being pure evil. Yet if we choose the highway of God we are bridge by Christ into the ways of Holiness by His Spirit. We purified by Christ work on the cross and we sanctified into holiness through his word and his Spirit as he corrects and mends our hearts toward him. There are times the believers are weak, tired, and feeble. Our job is to strengthen each other in faith and to help those that are weaker, tired and not as strong in faith. God is preparing our walk on the highway for the final bridge to our eternal home. In this world we live in we leave the sanctity and safety of our homes and fellowships, only to go among the dragons of our world. Yet though these dragons run in deserts we can rest assured God is springing up in places where water has not existed and have become an oasis for a place of rest. God's faithfulness to bring us home after we run are race our course takes faith. However the race grows sweeter with each step we take because we know when the heat of the flames of the devil breath is on, the water of Christ will quench it. The water of life will spring up as we stand our ground.

Israel was on journey of faith and as a nation, just like as Christian we wait on the promise hope of Christ return, they waiting for the time of milk and honey in the promise land, where healing took place and miracles were performed and power of God was demonstrated like in the days of Moses, or in the days that would be like heaven? More like the days in which we think of heaven, and that what it was like to be with Jesus everyday and still is today, even though there are trials and tribulation in the world we live in.

Dear Heavenly Father, move us in faith to the bridge of holiness through your Son, that we walk by faith not by sight trusting you knowing that on this side of eternity we will see dragons and devils and know that your water of life will still arise in the wake of them. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Hebrews 10:15-23 KJV
15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
