Great Is His Faithfulness Day 15 09/15/2021
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 8:4-15 KJV
4 And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:
5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?
10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
Great is God's Faithfulness to continue to sow the seed of life eternal through his word. Great is God's faithfulness despite that is word is sown sometimes even on what appears to be deaf ears and in places where things can and will not grow, it is still sown for man to have a chance to hear the word of life and live despite it might not grow to maturity. Can a plant produce in unfertile soil not for any length of time, but it does grow. If I want to see a glass particially full in this story who to stop me. Yet the truth is when the other half is drunk it is empty. Just like the plant that grows in unfertile soil, it grows but it will whither away because it has no nourishment or water. Yet there things in rocky places like moss that grow, and there are things that grow in rough terrain that we can only imagine. Though it might not last it sometimes spreads for a short period. It like the Gospel that sown in places it can not grow, but those there might hear and believe for a time, but because it not a normal place to grow and there is no one else following God the person or group is not going to grow because they have not learn to trust in God fully on their own. The temptation of this world snuffs their faith out. In fact they are chasing after the thing of the world seeking what that word was about in all the wrong places. The word fizzles out but can be revived in the heart of those that grew for a time, when they meet others with the seeds of faith. Meaning there is roots but not life and their hope but nothing understood.
Ethiopian if Philip had not obeyed God when would the Eunuch have understood who Isaiah was talking about. He had the word and yet he understood not what he read and need interpeter for himself. He heard it and was so glad to know the interpretation. How many times did he read that account and ponder it we will never know, but he gain knowledge and got baptized. The seed sown had flourished in his heart to the point of desiring to know more.
Just because the word is delivered and understood, does not mean everyone will receive it, the ground has to be fertile and life must be free to grow with the ability to produce fruit of the Spirit. Yet in unfertile soil it can not grow. Moss would not be something that would produce fruit of the Holy Spirit though it spreads. See it takes a seed of God to produce life and life more abundantly. It takes Christ and the Holy Spirit to produce solid plants, but it still the hearer choice to hear to obtain and to continue in faith. It takes our heart to say I surrender my life to Jesus. I will obey God's word and God will use our life to produce fruit of faith, love and hope in others, if we obey his word.
Why is obedience so important? We become people that sow God's word but without obedience we snuff the word of God out because by nature people follow what they hear, like and love. Often they are searching for that truth of God's word. Real truth that is the foundation of faith in Christ Jesus. We often are both devils and angels. To some that see our life as human with mistakes and still a child of God. And for those that have yet to receive Christ and are examing everyone life with a fine tooth comb trying to see how we are different.
What is the different about a believer, if in their human fralities they to are learning to trust in God, learning to pray, learning to rely on Jesus, learning to listen and following his word, because of who he is and not because who we are. Our humanity is even our own stumbling block at times, as well as others. When we sow the word of God, we to think on it, how is it changing me as well as the one I sowing it too. Better sow by the Spirit of God as Philip did, as God did in the life of Abraham, Paul, and Samuel, because we can not see the soil we sowing on, because it is the heart of a person. God sowed to Cain and Cain took it out on his brother Abel. That why the word grows in places but can not remain, because it needs to be transplanted in a place it can flourish.
We live in a land of freedom of faith, but our government is govern by many faiths not of our own. When this occurs, it means that our faith must have value to us to stand our ground despite the opposition to Christ by others. Our country founded on the principals of God. Found on those special laws of Moses and laws even in the New Testament. The Law is the law of love being first, and the loving the law itself maybe second, because within there is no mercy without love.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for mercy as we grow in you because you care to plant a seed even unfertile places at times and even in fertile places. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Romans 3:28 KJV
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
