Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Isaiah 40:1-31 KJV
1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins.
3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
6 The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
9 O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!
10 Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?
14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?
15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.
16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.
17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.
18 To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him? 19 The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.
20 He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.
21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?
22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
23 That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
24 Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.
25 To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?
28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

The other day we had an unwelcome visitor called a six month old kitten, please do not drop them near my house, they still land up going to animal shelter if there room or worse run over by a big truck. This little kitten still unwelcome visit and he is male, not friendly as far as coming up to someone to be petted, but is catchable and then he becomes cuddly. The point is despite his unwelcomeness at my house, he found temporary shelter until the animal shelter gets rid of some pets. So folks go either to the animal shelter or message me on facebook to take the kitten. The point is who can resist a little animal in need of help. I can, not completely. Yet dropping a pet is showing how neglectful you are to your responsibility and passing the buck to another. What would you think if God past his role over to the devil to take care of you, you would not like it to much. In fact you would not like being under the rule of the enemy for very long.

God in his wisdom allows us choice but we still under his authority. He still wants to cuddle us and love us. He still wants to give us good things and yet there are times he as to show mankind what evil is, what the other side of the fence looks like to be able to see a need to follow him and his rules. Lord saying have it your way for a time, is only teaching man the need for a Shepherd of their soul, who knows the deepest inward part of them, and knows how to meet the desire of their heart.

Israel exile was to bring Israel back to God. There always someone that still wants the wrong path, but until someone sees the need for faith, then some will never seek it or desire it. Until we understand our need for a Great Shepherd we will go astray and seek the world, only to discover the world is kind but is also a very cruel and often unforgiving place. Yet man desires the world because of what seems to feel good or think it feels good. Ask a drunk if alcohol makes him happy though he appears sad and he will lie and say he feels good and yet the next day he upchucking what he drank. No this person knows not happiness that is lasting.

The need for a Good Shepherd sometimes can not be seen until we see the otherside call earth. Adam and Eve seen paradise and then seen earth. When a child was born Eve said she got a son from the Lord and that was her salvation, or saving grace. The pain and misery for the saving grace coming through the women and yet God still had to provide the life to have the salvation.

When the promise Messiah would come Israel would be home but under Roman rule. They would see the need of the true Shepherd that took care of their disease, giving them hope of everlasting life through faith in him. Who is the Shepherd, the guardian of the heart; the Holy Spirit, the Word and that Father, God in one perfect Trinity. The need to fight the enemy not with a governmental reign but a spiritual reign. It not where we live but who is living within us and working in our life to enable us to be humble servants to God and yet joint heirs with Jesus, and children of God. Enslaved in mind to God for our indebtiness, but servant because we are paid in the since of being joint heir with Jesus. A child of God because we no more a servant or a slave to anything, but child to our Lord.

Governments will come and go, things change and things remain the same. Our own government has even changed alot since the time of President George Washington and yet it still remains the same with our constitutionary laws or they are suppose too. Yet the world inacts their own righteousness of conduct concerning the law. If Government abuses the law themselves then it just as evil as those outside the law, they becoming criminals of righteousness and not people of the law.

In our spiritual journey we see the government is like grasshoppers, but they are also small to God when he tears them apart or squishes them under his feet. The powers of our world not without judgment. Yet God in his wisdom knows his people can sore on eagle wings and not grow weary, not because of their strength but because of his. For God humbles his people and builds them up and carries them along the path of righteousness as well as leads them homeward.

God greatness of faith is not based on his destructive power, but his loving power. His loving power to hold us and to be there for his people. He always has an open door to anyone willing to hear and listen to his voice. His greatness to carry his word to the point of us knowing his rules and regulations are without question, but always filled with mercy, before judgment. God's strength humbling us because we understand his strength is making us strong and able to soar.

Dear Heavenly Father we are in need of your Shepherding. Open the world's eyes to the need of your Shepherding of our soul. Guide us oh Lord and make us strong in you, so we can soar with the eagles. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Mark 6:34 KJV
34 And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.

John 3:16-21 KJV
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
