Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Luke 24:36-53 KJV
(36) And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
(37) But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
(38) And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
(39) Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
(40) And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.
(41) And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?
(42) And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.
(43) And he took it, and did eat before them.
(44) And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
(45) Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
(46) And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
(47) And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
(48) And ye are witnesses of these things.
(49) And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
(50) And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.
(51) And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
(52) And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
(53) And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

Proof of Christ resurrection in the human incorruptible form. More then Spirit was Christ not just apparition or ghost, but a living being of human abilities. God is said to eat with Moses and the elders in the wilderness before the golden calf. Some perhaps believe this is without God in the flesh but there no indication that it was not a physical encounter with God. Then you have also the time of Abraham preparing for God a meal before Sodom and Gomorrah, and also the time of announcement of coming of Isaac. The appearing of the Lord to Samson’s mother and father, yet no meal was taken at that event. Yet there are a few recorded visitation of God where meal was taken. Why not Jesus in the flesh in the since of God’s only begotten Son after His death and resurrection. For someone to be equal to God they would have to be able to eat in the flesh after a physical death to prove resurrection. God in human form could do all the things human’s did. The disciples would of known the stories of Abraham, Samson’s parents and Moses and had they wonder about these events being a spirit and not a human physical presences. We can not shy away from the reality of a resurrection. I wants heard on news show a Christian group claiming not a physical resurrection, how can they get around this scriptural premise if they believe scripture.

The ability to believe scripture as it is, is strong meat. For not all can consume the reality of scripture. Nor the reality of God and His Son enjoying food as we do. No Ghost that Ghost hunters hunt for ever eat food. Yet there is definitely proof of the flesh needing food. Honeycomb a little bit of sweetness to go with the fish that Jesus ate . We need a little love when we eat strong meat of faith that pierce the soul and shows are failings of unbelief destroying the very sin of unbelief by the grace of God.

Christ purpose was to bring repentance to all people starting in Jerusalem, because of the proof of Christ resurrection. This proof would bring many to their knees with faith. Yet proof of the resurrection is not easily believed in our world today. Though people are resurrected upon pronouncing of death in the emergency room at times. Though this would not be a normal event. Resurrection of Jesus took three days. On the third morning Christ came up out of the tomb. Hear say is seldom enough evidence, so what brought you to the reality of God is probably more then scripture. Perhaps it is his presence in your life, or the understanding when He came into your heart you knew there was someone else with you, the same as when a mother carries a child in her womb. The presence of God in the heart is a real feeling.

Yet without prophecy, without something tangible for the mind to understand that God is real from His voice to his presence no one would believe in God. And no repentance would come. The concept of God has to be real in order for someone to kneel to repent to a real God and everlasting Lord. Jesus came back in the flesh to tell us that He came to bring repentance. For with the one act of crucifying our Lord we understand we all crucify our Savior with unbelief, with denial of truth and simple disobedience to God. Yet with all our mistakes and short comings the God of the Bible loves so much to come to redeem us as His own. Coming in the flesh and coming again when the trumpet sounds, to bring people to their knees in the reality of who He is and not part of believers imagination. The reality of God must come from God, by His Word and Spirit to our soul, mind and heart. Day of Christ return every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Jesus Christ is Lord To the glory of God the Father. Yet at the time of Christ resurrection it only began in Jerusalem the reality of God through the rising of the dead, first the holy men of old and then Christ own resurrection.

To teach the morality of God’s word is only icing on the cake, the reality of God is the meat of the cake. Anyone can learn to be good, but not all can learn the spiritual truth of the reality of God. Until we grab hold of the meat of the word of why Christ came, to bring us to our knees, we can not imagine the reality of God.

All God wants to do is to bring us to our knees in repentance and the reality of His authority over the earth. Bring us to acknowledgement we are not in charge but He is. Yet we rule with him and teach others the hope we have. That all. To testify the working of God in our life. One more thing not least nor greater but to love both God and our fellowman.

Dear Heavenly Father as you move in our hearts and soul of the reality of your presence bring us to our knees in humble repentance to you. Give is the hope of faith. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
