Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Genesis 6:8-16 KJV
(8) But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
(9) These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.
(10) And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
(11) The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
(12) And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
(13) And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
(14) Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
(15) And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
(16) A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.

God created us to build for our own protection. God need no ark to protect Noah, yet God told Noah to build an ark. God desires us to be involved in our own protection. Noah demonstrated faith in God has he build the ark. It took over 100 years for the ark to be complete. One has to ask about the craftsmanship of the ark. After all to drill and put together an ark of that heigh and width over a hundred years the wood would of gotten very well seasoned with age especially being exposed to the outdoor elements. Yet some believe there was canopy of water above the earth, never imagining the natural moisture in the air above that produces rain as we live now, or the dew that covers the ground in the fall and spring months of the year when the temperature and moisture is just right. I think why different version of the earth materialized because the idea of that much water covering the earth seems impossible. Yet with Tsunami and earthquakes the reality seems more believable to some that a global flood happen. After all Turkey Mount Ararat being the largest mountain and said to be where the ark was not only recovered, but by Bible direction found, one can not argue the change in climate due to global warming in that region of the world in the last thirty years, for snow use to cover that mountain with thick ice. Pictures of when the discovery of the ark was made shows the ice and the inability to dig up the ark. This ice age we hear about was caused by the flood on a global plain. How long would it take for that much water to recede anyone every think about it. After all the water at so many feet below earth surface reaching a freezing point.

What we have is years and years of planning for a global flood by God, warning the people by the sign of the building of the ark to repent. Noah a minister of righteousness. A people saying no way can the flood happen. The ark of the wood on the ark being well seasoned with age. A man building an ark for hundred years taking each day to get the lumber and nails necessary for such a feat. No one knowing if he had to cut the wood himself, and mold the nails or smooth each board out before being able to use it on the ark. Yet hundred years and the process that it took to build we do not know. How primitive was culture at the time of Noah no one knows. As tools are found by digs in places there it it was not possible the technology of the time is found to be crude to our technology today. Yet we do not know with the mass of people that would have been on the earth if there were those that did certain task as far as a simple sawmill goes. Hundred years to build ark seems possible with primitive tools. The feat nearly impossible for a man, yet not one with patience of Job, or the patience that would stand the test of time. After all Noah was already old, what did he have to loose. He knew he would see the day after he came out of the ark, that was a guaranteed by God.

Being saved means we know we have another tomorrow, though it does not mean we will not face death in our bodies. God wants to take His salvation in us to the day of our death or the day of Christ return. Our bodies being the ark of our soul. The ark of the part that will live forever. He wants to build hope over time, build love, patience, joy, and so forth in our daily life. He wants us, to nail and hammer our faith together. That faith that without has no salvation, though the gift of salvation is given. Without Noah building there was no salvation for him. Without us building and growing in faith daily, we can not build on our faith in God. We build and grow so that when our death comes, we are ready to meet our Lord. Ready because Salvation was already ours upon belief but our action of love toward God and our fellowman was given to enable others to build their faith. Our building so others can see despite the fact those around us might not live for eternity. Or have we failed to demonstrate our faith so others could see the hope of God we have in Christ Jesus.

Where are you today in your faith are you building on the Lord Jesus Christ. Are you building on the solid rock of the promise of God’s salvation for man. Are you building to allow your faith to shine before mankind. Noah faith shines even today as the ark was discovered on Mount Ararat. Where your faith, do you build for God has He instructs?

Dear Heavenly Father enable us to build on you and your word so people will see our faith and want to know you and build to on your word. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
