Preserving Of Faith Through Suffering
10/31/2016

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Hebrews 11:32-40 KJV
(32) And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
(33) Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
(34) Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
(35) Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
(36) And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
(37) They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
(38) (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
(39) And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
(40) God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

What is it to live a life unto God and yet still face persecution? What is it to be willing to die for one’s faith? Missionaries have died for there faith. People in third world countries have died for the sake of Christ and the sake of peace. Some might think peace is about universal law and order and it is to a point, but there is never total peace in society without Christ being a major factor of that peace. Religious law and doctrines are to harsh for the none believer but the way of love is not. The way of love says our society has room for the unbeliever, but a standard of law to obey despite one’s convictions of faith. Tomorrow is all saint’s day. Today despite that for many folks Halloween is just another fun day of candy, costumes and parties, it was once a day of horror for a believer. It is still a horror for families with children that think they have good neighbors only to find poison in their candy.

There is a point nothing wrong with fun, much wrong with the celebration of evil in society, because it against a peaceful way of living. It is about the corruption of society yet no one thinks of it this way. Scary stories to give a fright but real horrors in life from earthquakes, tornadoes, fires, and all forms of destruction is not enough for mankind, they they had to create their own evil of witches, vampires, satanic rituals and so forth. With ever sacrifice of a Christian the world cheered not knowing that there message was about love and hope. Not knowing that their way was about peace and sacrifice to save a person from eternal evil. Temporary evil does not sound bad, until one hears the cost of damages of a prank gone wrong.

Through out the ages Christians like other religious have had their martyrs of faith. Without martyrs there is no one standing up against evil, freedom of faith and hope of a better tomorrow. Daniel faced the lions den refusing to obey the king to not pray. Some died in faith from facing the lions den, but Daniel did not. Where old time believers of Christ any less faithful then Daniel and the answer is no. But the hope of every believer is eternal life, so whether a survivor or dead they still have victory despite what others believe. That believer that was sacrificed for faith will return with Christ in his army. The one that sacrificed his life for freedom might of done it what might seem in vain, but the truth is that the believers standing for the message of peace gain not the world but the hope of eternity. Martyrs lost there life not living always to have peace. Gideon fought and got to retire on his farm. The heroes of faith stand together in victory. Yet not all receive the same outcome in there human life time.

Whether through sacrifice, or through peaceful living we can not forget those who fought so we could have peace, safety and hope of a better future. Our wars of this centuries that plague our world is nothing like what the world hopes for. We all long for peace and safety. No one wants to think of bombs, or troubles. Yet it happens. No one wants to think of murder, or thugs on the street. We all long for peace, but if faith is denied then we are without hope, yet God is able to preserve faith. He called Abraham, Samuel, Moses, and many more to tell his message. God sent His Son and called His disciples to share the Gospel message of eternal life and love.

I am celebrating love today and not the evil fun. I celebrating the love of those willing to give up their life for you and me. I am celebrating the hope of faith of eternal life through Christ Jesus. Will you allow Christ light to shine this Hallow Eve.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the victory we always have through your Son, despite the earthly price. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:2 Corinthians 11:23-31 KJV
(23) Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.
(24) Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.
(25) Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;
(26) In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
(27) In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
(28) Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.
(29) Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?
(30) If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.
(31) The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not.
