Casting All Your Cares
10/27/2016

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

1 Peter 5:1-14 KJV
(1) The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
(2) Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
(3) Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
(4) And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
(5) Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
(6) Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
(7) Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
(8) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
(9) Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
(10) But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
(11) To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
(12) By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.
(13) The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.
(14) Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

A pastor is often someone that one should be able to go to. A pastor is not always the leader of the church. There are many people called to preach but not all make good pastors of a church. Some make better pastors of small group Bible Studies, or even a Sunday School Class. Sometimes the head Pastor is a good administrator but is not a good confidant. A pastor is required to know how to feed the sheep of God by following the Holy Spirit. No one learns to teach over night or even to preach. One learns over time to do the will of God and not allow self to enter in, yet it all takes practice even if before you were able to give a decent speech.

The shepherding of God’s flock is important role, is carrying for those already trained, not trained, and some not willing to learn. Those that are trained disciples of Christ have learned to trust in Jesus on their own without the help of the elders to remind them to trust and rely on Him. It is a daily growing in faith and learning to trust one’s Savior and Lord. One must learn to cast all their cares on Jesus.

Casting one’s cares is learning to take one’s burned to the feet of Christ. Laying them down not to retrieve them for time of worry and analyzing. It handing over those things not to reach up to gain them back to try and fix the problem. It does not mean you and God won’t fix the issue you are dealing with together it is placing God in charge. When one gets use to placing God in charge, then their faith becomes steady and the enemy has no more power to throw darts at you or to tempt you into retrieving that burden, by saying you do not need God to solve it, or you don’t need God to fix it. Truth Is you do need Jesus to help in all situations. He is the great Shepherd of the soul.

As children we learn to trust our parents, who at some point need to be able to trust us in old age to care for their needs sometimes physical and emotional. There bodies growing old and no longer able to care for themselves but to have in writing their request on what should be done. There children sometimes to busy to care or unable to care for themselves watching the whole process of those who care for them, are now the ones needing care. God may be old, but He is still able to take care of all our needs. He is still able to provide and instruct us and his saints.

Coming to a place of rest is coming to a place of maturity of faith of allowing God to be in control. Resting in God’s ability and not our own. We become like our parents in old age, realizing our inability to control situations, or solve every problem but knowing God can. God holds our future in His hands. As we learn to trust we must remember those around us are on the same type of journey of learning to trust God and rely. If knowing they too struggle as we do, we should help as God instructs. First taking every problem to the Lord in prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to rely on you fully despite what the devil throws at us, knowing you heal all our wounds, and mend the problems of our life if we rely on you. Help your children as the learn daily to trust in you and not to rely always on the elders, but to listen to their good instruction of faith. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:2 Thessalonians 3:1-5 KJV
(1) Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
(2) And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
(3) But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
(4) And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.
(5) And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
