Prepared For Good Works

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

2 Timothy 2:19-22 KJV (20) But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
(21) If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
(22) Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

In God’s house there many types of vessels, yet man has a responsibility to purge himself of sin. One has a responsibility to flee from sin. To remove sin from their life. God is able to preserve us for the day of salvation but we need to do our part. In God’s house there are many types of vessels. There vessels that believe in God and reach heaven only to find themselves just barely missing the bar of being cast out and it be only because of faith. Faith is a strong tool against the enemy, but works has it place of following after righteousness. To be standing on judgment day with only faith, is taking our faith and saying Lord you told me if I only believe it was enough. Yet it being enough gives no honor to God. It shows the work of the cross to have ill effect. It shows the effort God makes to help and enable our life fruitless. We have a responsibility to bear the fruit of God to be a witness for Him. Not to stand on the day of judgment and say Lord I had talents but I buried them because I was afraid to use them because I was afraid they would not reproduce. God’s fruit always reproduces even when we fail in our hearts to shine for God’s glory. Our outward fruit of God’s Spirit is enough for God to use, but it should not be the only thing God sees. Many people fall prey to false fruit. Not realizing or seeing the heart behind the scenes of the well doing.

Our responsibility as believers is to flee from sin and to demonstrate the love of God in all we do, because He first loved us. He seals with His Spirit of promise to preserve us and to mark us as His child. Yet the Lord should not only see our mark on the day of judgment but the work and honor we gave to him. If we need to bury out talents may it produce seeds of righteousness that grow and not seeds of unfruitfulness, but seeds that produce for the Lord. As men and women retire from ministry often their life takes on a new role, some not using their talents anymore the same way. Yet those talents are not given up by choice but for God’s service to allow others to lead.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to turn from sin and serve you knowing that those things we do for you is a product of your Spirit that it bear fruit and we be a vessel of honor and not unworthy to be your child. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:Ephesians 1:13-14 KJV
(13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
(14) Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
