10/16/2016

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Psalms 107:1-43 KJV
(1) O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
(2) Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
(3) And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
(4) They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.
(5) Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
(6) Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.
(7) And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
(8) Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
(9) For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
(10) Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron;
(11) Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High:
(12) Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help.
(13) Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.
(14) He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.
(15) Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
(16) For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.
(17) Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
(18) Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.
(19) Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.
(20) He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
(21) Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
(22) And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.
(23) They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters;
(24) These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep.
(25) For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.
(26) They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.
(27) They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end.
(28) Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.
(29) He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.
(30) Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
(31) Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
(32) Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
(33) He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground;
(34) A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
(35) He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings.
(36) And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation;
(37) And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.
(38) He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease.
(39) Again, they are minished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.
(40) He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way.
(41) Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock.
(42) The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
(43) Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.

God’s mercy on His people is hard for the world to understand without knowin the full story of why He gathers his people to a place that they can worship Him without destruction. He gather’s his people from the east, west, north and south. He gathers to a place He built for them. In the process his people travel into places and villages testifying of God bringing them home. As North Carolina seems to not have an end for many people the loss of life at a minimum is a blessing. Evacuation of many areas before the hurricane help the current situation, but it did not solve the problem of the flooding. As aid works including churches set up to take in people, their tables lined with supplies. Homes destroyed, only for the loving arms of strangers to say you can rebuild, and begin again. I do not care if you twenty or seventy five at fifty the idea of rebuilding is like trying to decide what important verse what is necessary to sustain life. I thought a camping trip would be easy outdoor activity but in truth the age of years only reminded me I was no longer young but I was not old. Despite the headache I decided I need to do it again if nothing more to remind myself how much I love my home, and the comforts within. Why mention the flood, why mention the traveling, it is for some people the only avenue to get them to a place of understanding true values in life.

True of going home is the understanding the very need of heaven. In heaven our home is already prepared for our habitation. In flood victims their home is destroy and need repair. Heaven and Hell is like home prepared and home unprepared for living. Hell was designed for devil and his angels and not design for human being. Yet without the salvation of God the habitation of the devil is our eternity. With God’s saving grace we have a home built and designed for us in heaven.

As Israel was gather from all corners of the earth they came to Israel to reestablish there home. Yet it is not a home, but a place to live. A place to be with others of the same faith and background. It like a family reunion, a place to meet to catch up on family news. A hug in the storm, bringing sheltering of faith and values to rebuild a nation and town.

The sailor going out to sea to face the storms and the deep blue sea is only ready to reach the shore of safety. It matters not how much a sailor loves the sea and desires to be their fishing in waters to deep to even touch the ocean floor. The danger of Jaws, and fish larger then human life lurks in the water below.

God in his wisdom had kingdoms that were not his help in the rebuilding of Israel more then once. God caused kingdoms to purge their land of Jews to send them home to rebuild, and sent with them supplies to rebuild. These kingdoms that did not care before what type of people they were now dividing and sending God’s people home. When God in his ark landed up in a foreign land, the ark would be sent back because of tumors. The Philistines loaded the ark up on a car lead by two milk cows. The cows rolled into one of God’s villages and the ark would be eventually be carried to its rightful spot in Israel. Even the gentiles knew the wrath and power of God and still do today. In 1948 was the only sign needed for even the heathens knew God’s word was true as the state of Israel was reestablished.

Dear Heavenly Father has your word is proof of your reality, may the knowledge that you build for your people a home in heaven be fully understood.. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

John 14:2-3 KJV
(2) In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
(3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
