Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

2 Corinthians 11:1-15 KJV
(1) Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me.
(2) For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
(3) But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
(4) For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
(5) For I suppose I was not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles.
(6) But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things.
(7) Have I committed an offence in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely?
(8) I robbed other churches, taking wages of them, to do you service.
(9) And when I was present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me the brethren which came from Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself.
(10) As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia.
(11) Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.
(12) But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.
(13) For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
(14) And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
(15) Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

As the great day of electing our nation’s leaders come to a countdown of under a month away one has to ask who will be elected. The question looming what example of humanity of our nation do we want represented in our nation. What type of sexual offenders do we want in the presidential first family? The manipulation of our leaders to use the laws that protect only to break them. As our kids deal with anti bullying campaign in their schools they only watch our nation be devils with the mask of good works.

How we live and what we teach is essential to values in America. Christian fundamentalist cringe with the thought of either candidates getting into office. The value of money and wealth can buy anything including silence. If our laws have no value why have laws? Even devils help people. Yet if our laws do not protect our people allowing sexual assault, sexual immorality at the highest levels of our government then the devil has shown he in leadership and our laws matter little. Yet the devil continues to run across our world doing the things devils do. They raise their heads to say I sin too, but I get away with it. What if rich men drug parties were busted. Cops showed there was equality of law. What if rich rapist got jail time instead of paying off the people they harmed. Our nations laws would not longer be twisted by politicians and life styles would be in check.

Then one ask how is really talk and how much is really action. God does judge our actions. We can not fail to see our own fallacies. Things thought in our heart and mind that are evil only to be replaced by outward good actions. Doing what we should and not like what we would like too. Fighting against temptation to sin verses just doing what feels right or good in our world. Being a Christian is more then living up to standard but getting even thoughts and hearts in tuned to God. To spiritually allow Jesus to change our every thought.

I am little envious of those who talent to memorize scripture. Yet even the devil memorizes scripture. Even the devil gives gift to the poor. Now with that said Christians what is our part in the picture. What as a believer can we do? Mediate on the word of God and listen to what God really speaks on a subjected of not only faith but action. I find myself in a situation of argument and praying in the middle of it. What I learned in the middle of the prayer, God intervention. God’s intervention was calming effect by His Spirit. When the devil wants to destroy pray. When the devil wants to control, pray. When the devil does his worst pray. God power is greater then ours. It does not mean we turn the other check after the second punch necessarily, but it means we become like Joshua, Gideon and Deborah. Scripture teach women to be passive, yet there are times women must join the battle in leadership. What do the private life tell of our nation’s leaders. Do they speak their heart, or only what they feel they must conform too.

The devil plays many rolls in our nation and the signs of his work might appear like light, but it does not mean it is. Our own government gave blankets to the Indians with smallpox. Giving of blanks seems generous until you hear of infection of the blankets. Evil lurks in many formats. My God is still on the throne. My God is still in control. The devil time draws short. As sin abounds it coming to a time it will be crushed.

Dear Heavenly Father may you enable your people to have godly wisdom to pray, seek your face in all situations, knowing the enemy will only arise for a time period, until it is destroyed. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

Revelation 12:9-11 KJV
(9) And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
(10) And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
(11) And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
