Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

John 12:44-50 KJV
(44) Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.
(45) And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
(46) I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
(47) And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
(48) He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
(49) For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
(50) And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

The prophetic all to speak only the words God allows one to speak. I can remember grandfather sitting in silence in old age. I wonder why he spoke not. Prehaps he was resting or mediating on what God often spoke to him. He never taught us God spoke to him, he only taught scripture and lived it in his daily life. Was He foreteller no more then any other minister. He prophesied about the coming of Christ to keep watch for Jesus was coming soon.

Jesus words here would have been understood by the Pharisees. Understood by the teachers of the law. Isaiah talked about the words given for him to speak as well as Jeremiah being instructed to speak only the words of God. No minister or teacher of God can speak words of God without God’s instruction.

Jesus clear that no man believed in him but in the one that sent him. Yet in John Jesus also declares Himself as one with the Father. In other words if you spoke to Jesus you spoken to God. No other person could declare that. With that thought one ask if Jesus could declare himself with God was it blaspheme. Yet all men are able to say they are gods by the Old Testament. Speaking in the since of godlike in the since of our roles in life, as leader and hierarchy over something. Yet we are never God.

Jesus was the Christ the Word of God, the very part of God that spoke to the people. Words from God does not make me God. Jesus words was the part of God that was God. Jesus was prophet, a teacher, a preacher, the Son of God and equal to the Father. He was the everlasting Father spoke in Isaiah. Jesus was human flesh but every aspect of Jesus was God. This passage in John declares the prophetic all of Jesus. Speaks of the prophetic call of all believers. Speaks the prophetic idea of what we are to speak the word of God.

If you ever listen to enough sermons of anyone person you going to hear errors. Errors intentionally or none intentionally done. If God’s word is what is suppose to be spoken why such errors. God does not make mistakes, yet he felt man was mistake before the flood. If man can only speak the words of God to teach and preach, then why the errors. It is because our humanity rebels against God’s Spirit at times and we do not always utter what God commands. God is in control but few people walk in the state of allowing God total control in regards to what we say or even do. Jesus because of who He was able to do exactly what God said do. Maybe the errors of human preacher is to draw us away from the people of God to only establish one further in their relationship with God. For if the error is found to be an error, can we deny that it turns us off to that person in regards to being able to question their teaching. I rather have a person be able to question even myself, because I am only human. Jesus was God in the human flesh, His name was Emanuel meaning God with us. Angel Gabrielle declared His name to Mary and God declared it to Joseph. Isaiah prophesied his name Immanuel God with us was coming.

The blindness of man and the religious leaders was only because God hide the truth from them to accomplish His work. To accomplish it by their laws and by the law of the land to crucify him. One crucifies God every time we twist God’s word into a lie. Our strive needs to be to speak those words exactly what God gives. To be like Jesus and speak the truth with all accuracy yield to His power and control.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to speak only your words. Draw us to you, despite human error of even good ministers. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

Jeremiah 1:4-10 KJV
(4) Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
(5) Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
(6) Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
(7) But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
(8) Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.
(9) Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
(10) See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
