Where Does My Help Come From

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Isaiah 40:28-31 KJV
(28) Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
(29) He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
(30) Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
(31) But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Being in the valley of life one learns the difficulty of growing tired of climbing either hill to go outside the valley. Yet there is rest in valley. Rest much needed at times. Our bodies, our soul, and our mind grow weary. We look at our faith and struggle to strive. Yet God’s grace is sufficient. Today as the East Coast is looking at the results of another hurricane, one can only imagine people looking to the hills of saying Lord you are my hope.

Each valley has only one to give strength in the dark shadow of valley as will as the pot holes in life. God’s hand is covering you in the valley. Yet we look to the hills to remind us of faith in God. Moses talked to God on Mount Sinai. Perhaps Isaiah when writing thought about that very event. Perhaps Elisha journey to the mountain only expanded on the view of God of looking toward the mountain. Perhaps it the caves and cliffs of God’s hiding and covering Moses only reminded Isaiah of where His help comes from and it comes from the Lord. Perhaps Isaiah thought of the mighty kings fighting in valley with only one hope the victory coming from God. What ever went through Isaiah mind as he wrote, God used this same passage to tell of a time of the Messiah coming, and the hope of salvation and the forerunner of Christ. Our hope being in God to provide for a time of peace and a time of rest.

We will grow tired in the journey in life, that why we need that time of rest and re strengthening. Give us the hope of faith to trust in God to deliver the hope of a better tomorrow and to give the rest needed for the journey. Let us look to the hills and see God coming to give strength to the believer. Knowing the valley is only between the next victory dance of the mountain top of the hill we are climbing.

Dear Heavenly Father give us strength in the valley. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV
(9) And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
