God talks about darkness after destruction where there is no light. Only thing left is the destruction upon the city. A darkness where no light shines and destruction lays in the path and streets of the city. Yet this darkness is compared to God’s own void or darkness that surround him at the beginning. The image of destruction is often though of having no light, yet was not God in that darkness. Where ever God is, there is light but not physical light. A light that lights the path. God can see in the darkness He needs no light. If I take a lump of clay and begin to mold it and stop and literally flatten and then turn off the light tell the next day that lump of clay will sit in darkness until I bring life to it. Creating it out of its destruction into a vessel for food, water, ashes, or flowers. God sees the darkness that comes to a generation without Him, yet he sees a flicker of light dawning as he begins to reshape what was destroyed.

As firefighters, rescue works and destruction and clean up crews go into a city to clean up destruction, at night it is left to rot until the dawning of day comes to make changes to the city that been destroyed. Life spring up as the crews clear away the debris and turn the soil to bury the old and plant a new.

Darkness or emptiness the first time was not evil, yet it became evil because of the destruction. God has used darkness throughout scripture to represent evil of this world as well as the inability to see the destruction coming in the since of death in the land of darkness and flames of fire with no light. As children of God we sit in the shadows of the wings of the Almighty and fell no fear, but the darkness of evil there is fear. Where God is there is life in the void that hovers over the darkness of evil, destruction and even hell. God’s light not seen unless broadcasted to the world of destruction. God’s light not seen unless God shows his light and his power to raise up something new in the place of destruction. God hovers over something that is not a part of him. He hovered over the waters of the deep at the time of creation. He hovers over the destruction of the city of Jerusalem that was not him. His light being in the city of Jerusalem, but it did not illuminate that city. In fact evil had come to plague the children of Israel to the point as destruction came, God would take the children of Israel and bring them back into the light of faith in Him.

God wants to take the backslider the one ruining is life by not walking in God’s light and make it a vessel for him. He wants to clear away destruction of evil and put light in its place. He wants to remove the thoughts of evil of the night and bring light to it. The ways that are not destructive to man is wrapped in the law of love, faith and hope. The children of darkness walk neither in love, faith or hope. Instead they lay on street corners waiting for victims they can destroy. Not caring who they hurt to get ahead. The wealthy removed from the city of destruction because they can afford a ride out of town while those not willing to walk from darkness, are force to bear whatever will come to city meet for destruction, despite whether they believe or not.

After destruction of old life God can begin to build again just like after destruction of a storm, men come in an rebuild, some to more destruction that leads to death and others rebuild to the voice of God. When one is listening to the voice of God hope springs anew for where there was darkness light shines forth and hope of a better tomorrow.

Where is that hope of life but only God for God molds us into his likeness. He molds us into his way of light and life. Yet man molds things into his desires that can only be destroyed. If I take blocks and build a tower does it not get knock down. As men build cities do not walls come tumbling down to rebuild newer structures. Yet God takes and molds by the light of His word people not meant for darkness of evil in the pit of hell but for his habitation in heaven and in the new Jerusalem. God would take Israel after destruction and begin to mold those that would hear his voice. The destruction in this chapter was not it for His children, but it was it for city who put God in box and laws to separate him from his people from Him existed. Laws designed because the children of Israel did not want to hear the voice of God and needed Moses to intercede. What the law prove was the ways of man were evil far from God’s original plan for man.

Gideon establish the law in some areas, but the ways of evil still existed. Our illuminate the Holiness of God, but not the love of God in the since of his mercy, only in his laying out his law of how to love others and Him. Love being what illuminates God’s light in the world. God allowed Israel to have it there way. Yet he hope those that found him beyond the law written down would find his mercy and grace. The molding into the way God designed us through simple obedience to His word both written down in ink and by His Spirit.

Dear Heavenly Father though destruction comes to remove the evil from us, may your hands continue to mold our life in your light so we will be vessels of light and destruction, but vessel fit for kingdom to come. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
