Thank You God For Your Son

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Luke 2:36-39
(36) And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;
(37) And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.
(38) And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.
(39) And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

The widow offers thanks in the temple of the Lord. She thanks God for the salvation of Israel. She was prophetess a woman looking for the salvation and before her very eyes she could see salvation had and was coming to Israel through this baby boy. A baby with much dreams prayed for. The prophesy being fullfilled of the virgin birth. The thanksgiving of hope to the world of what would this child truly bring to our world as they knew it then. Jesus came to set the captives free from the yoke of sin and bondage, he came to teach the world about forgiveness and truth about His Father. The truth of hope to all that followed and obey what God taught his people from old. He would be teacher to the people and signs and wonders would follow from the healing of sick, casting out demons, feeding the multitude to raising of the dead. One person death for the price of all sin. One person's death at the cost of sin of the whole world.

Had Anna fully understood what she spoke only from a prophetic perspective. Jesus would teach in the temple the things of God, and explain for the current world in language the world understood. He was evangelist, a leader, a healer,and redeemer. Let us praise him as Anna did when we enter our churches, when we enter our homes, when we walk the walk of faith wherever we go. Let us be thankful for our redeemer lives. Lives with in the heart of all that believe. In the heart of all that receive His message of faith through the cross of Calvary. There is only one name that man can be saved through and his name is Jesus, the Word of God, the only begotten Son of God, the hope of all the world. Let us thank the Lord for sending His Son to die in our place for eternity and through his resurrection gave the power to over come sin and death to all that believe in your saving power.

Dear Heavenly Father give us grace to stand and to walk by faith giving praise and honor to your Son who died in my place. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
