Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Colossians 3:1-17
(1) If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
(2) Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
(3) For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
(4) When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
(5) Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
(6) For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
(7) In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
(8) But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
(9) Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
(10) And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
(11) Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
(12) Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
(13) Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
(14) And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
(15) And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
(16) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
(17) And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Having one of those weeks where everything seems to be preventing me from trying to do my task I need doing that takes mechanical equipment. Earlier this week it was a change in my services online, then it was power outage and now it is the internet service. Yeah one of those weeks. I also feel like I trying to catch a cold or is it just dust. Yeah it is one of those weeks. Yet God tells me to be thankful. Let's see I can be thankful for the power failing because I got to sleep in. I can be thankful for the changes in some services online because it means things just got better hopefully. Then I am thankful for internet service being down, it makes me consider what thankfulness with gratitude is in real life. It is not about gadgets, bobbles, or gifts for next year. It being thankful for that one thing that has stood the test of time which is God and Christ Jesus. The word of God being most valuable in our world and even the universe. Technology has its advantages but what it can not do is fix all the world's problems in a day.

I always ask the estimate of time of when a problem will probably be fixed to these tech people of these electronics. Of course they think they know, but not always. I appreciate their efforts though I do not always sound like I am thankful. Yet are we ever saying thank you God despite we know not the hour in which He has decided to fix the problem for the world. After his Son's return will end all arguments concerning His reality. Many believers will be thankful at his coming. Yet many that walked with Christ when He was on earth never said thank you. In fact ten lepers that were healed only one came back kneeled. As Christ hung the cross no one said Thank you Lord for the price you are giving.

No one said Lord thank you for the price you are giving by dying for my sins. My ungrateful attitude when I sin the next day tells the story of how little I think on what Christ did for me. It is the sin that is troubling, for our actions speak who's child we are. Yet some might say do not worry Christ died for the sins to come after salvation too. Though it is true, our gold should be not sin. Our action to show gratitude for the cross by striving not to sin. Our attitude of gratefulness of Christ has done and continues to do.

Are we thankful for what we receive. Are we thankful for receiving Christ in our heart, to where thanksgiving is on our lips daily. I can not control electronic world, but I can control my attitude towards God. I can singing song of praise from my heart that takes no electronics to do. Some people depend on electronics to speak, but God sees the heart beyond what fingers can talk or machine voice can speak for someone.

What is the point, do we look at our machines of life saving, being able to now track our every move, failing to understand that God already knows where we are and where we are going. Is the technology age making us feel safer, but in reality it only as good as the person that knows how to use it. God is in control, he knows how to destroy the technology age by earthquake or lightening strike. People for years that have trusted in God have never need the power of big brother. Yet man is able to use big brother to its advantages. OUr safety being more intact of knowledge that evil men can see our world in which we live in by a camera and listening devices.

The reality is children still lay in their beds and fight abusers, not knowing it is not okay to be abused. Technology only as powerful as the person unable to change the world without outside proof. The devil still lurking in the shadows not able to steal but destroy the human spirit of love and hope. The devil being able to use gadgets to rob our children of sanity. Instead of children learning to praise God, they are learning how to listen to big brother through conditioning. Every good action being corrected by positive response and every bad action cauing a beating down of the human spirit.

God's chastisement not about depended on the technology but on the word of God. The word of God correcting our hearts reminding us to Praise Him with all kinds of hymns and thanksgiving unto Him. His chastisement not set to destroy but to cause change. God correction will enable us to change and to walk in His love and grace if we will seek him giving praise to God for correction and for the cross of Jesus who paid the price for our sins.

God desires a people that will praise him turning from the wickedness in their life and the evil of this world, giving thanks to God for allowing His Son Jesus to pay the price for our sin. Jesus then ha ving victory through the cross. Let us praise God for what He done for us through His Son. Giving thanks through our actions through obedience to doing things God's way.

Dear Heavenly Father remind us to be grateful and that our sin demonstrates no thankfulness for what Christ did on the cross for our sin. In Jesus precious name Amen.
