Every Sunday A Psalms: Praise The Lord
11/15/2015

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Psalms 61:1-8 KJV
(1) To the chief Musician upon Neginah, A Psalm of David. Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
(2) From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
(3) For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
(4) I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.
(5) For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.
(6) Thou wilt prolong the king's life: and his years as many generations.
(7) He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him.
(8) So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.

The battle of change is often derived by life circumstance. David reached a place of crying out to God and asking to help reach that rock that higher then He was. To reach up not to become the rock but to clean to the rock that higher then He is because the Lord had sheltered him in the mist of the storm and a strong tower against his enemies. No matter the place David found himself he found strength coming from God to do His will. A strength that was not his own and not from adrenalin rush from war. A strength that provided in the mist of the storms especially when all hope seemed impossible. He would rest in security of the wings of the Almighty.

What is to rest in God’s wings is to know that the protection of God has a hyper warp shield. A shield not penetrated by the enemy even when you rest beside him. Think of David in the cave sleeping and resting besides Saul’s men who would notice and extra snoring person. No one was counting breath that inhaled, in the dark he was covered by God own hand in the middle of His enemies.

He knew God had saved his life on more then on occasion and that sheltering arms allowed him to grow old. He desired to rest in the temple of the Lord. To make his home there to rest in God’s mercy and grace for God even gave him mercy on sin he committed. Things perhaps he should of paid for in his life time and with his life, but God spared him and forgave him.

David had plenty of reason to shout before the Lord for God was good to him. Yet in all this praising, David knew he was not in charge there was someone above him, someone He knew not but He desire to be taken to Him. He knew the Messiah in the flesh, but new the Messiah by the Word and grace of God. To ignore these facts is to ignroe the saving power of God’s word through out the ages. Nothing changed by God’s saving power through His Word despite what form it was in. Whether it was in the form of man name Jesus or the spoken word by God Father and the Holy Spirit. David knew the voice of God, knew God was far above him. He desire to talk and commune with God to dwell in the sanctuary of the Almighty. Do you desire the sanctuary of the Almighty and His grace, or do you feel you can rise above God and His Word? Salvation is yours if you bow to the truth of the word of God and to His authority as being Almighty in power.
