Authority To Tread On Serpent's
11/13/2015

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Luke 10:17-22 KJV
(17) And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
(18) And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
(19) Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
(20) Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
(21) In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
(22) All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

I was talking to someone the other day about the fact cross bow season is in full swing in our region of the world. Many disabled will be getting their first deer of the season. Yet in truth I began to look at my site cross on my home page and began to realize something about cross and bows. I desire this site to shoot with the word of God and his Spirit and not with the guns of this world. One can not fight with God’s word without knowing the power of the name of Jesus. Not knowing the authority a believers has in Jesus name. Authority given to all believers to full fill the will of God and not the will of man. To see the lame healed, and demons cast out. To walk in triumph over evil and not in defeat.

One can raise their hands like Moses in battle, yet unless you understand who your enemy is you can not use the sword as effectively without walking by the Spirit. No you do not have to know who the enemy is beyond knowing his name is Satan, you just have to know that wrong is wrong and right is right and the power of God within you will correct you on all things. However like Cain we do not always adhere to the Spirit of God. It is learning obedience. Learning what the power of Christ name is able to due on this earth beyond our own ability.

Moses In the wilderness knew the power of God’s word but not the power of Jesus name. He knew through miracles that God’s word was true and yet people only see the promise of the Messiah as prophesy not the living word in the flesh or the power of His name by the Spirit of God. I claim healing for friends in the power of Jesus name, but not always do those people receive healing and I ask why Lord? Why did I receive and others did not and the answer still the same, it not their time to receive yet.

How often we want loved ones to get saved to the point pressuring them to be saved becomes a burden to them. Some only getting saved to shut a person up and others taking the full understanding of what Jesus did for them on the cross of Calvary, not understanding that they were being prayed for to receive the greatest gift of all which is forgiveness of sin through the cross. Are we different because we choose to walk by God’s Spirit, are we different because we ask in the authority given to us by Christ name. Jesus gave each and every born again believe the authority to pray in his name and to cast out demons. Yet we are not to rejoice over the power of Christ name but to rejoice that our own names are written down in heaven because evidence of our prayers are heard and answered by His Spirit to do the bidding of His children’s request. For we request in Jesus name. Yet if we ask and it not God’s will then we not in control of the authority of God or His Spirit, but in subjection to God’s will when using the authority of Christ name. Yet the sick rose from the bed that Jesus ministered to, and lame walked. Where is our faith to see the lame walk and the people healed, but in the hands of doctors or in the hands of God.

When Christ creturns healing will take place and every tear dried. When Christ came the first time all were healed that came to him, but some without faith received nothing. It happens that way now. So with little faith to receive one is only healed to what they can receive, or what they hope to receive. It is not enough to be like Moses and see the earth tremble and signs and wonders, to be able to receive a miracle. I am ashamed of that fact that signs and wonders is not enough in modern world, because man look for scientific evidence of events and not the hand of God. There is always going to be evidence but God’s timing is not proveable by these signs. Conditions of God can not be seen beyond the Spirit of God himself. Yet the authority given to the believer has to be received that God still is in control when something does not occur when requested. Yet does this bring defeat only if their never been proof in a person’s life of the reality of God. And God does not leave his children without the ability to grow in faith despite the answer for a healing to be no. Some things take fasting and prayer to see something happen. Yet it never in our power, but in the hands of God. Even Christ healed a blind man twice. He could only see a little and then he seen a lot . The blind man had been totally blind but it took two touches from Jesus to receive full sight.

In this story of the seventy being sent out and being given power to see people heal, God used it to testify who both Christ was and who He was. What purpose are we asking. What purpose are we receiving. One has to take in account the full Gospel not just one verse on the power of Jesus name, or even two verses. There is a purpose when God’s will is fulfilled and when our requested are turned down. Give it to God to work all things for His purpose.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the power in Jesus name to be used for your glory and honor and not the honor of man. May you will be full filled in your children’s life and may they know their name is written in the book of Life. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
