Psalms 60:1-12 KJV
(1) To the chief Musician upon Shushaneduth, Michtam of David, to teach; when he strove with Aramnaharaim and with Aramzobah, when Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the valley of salt twelve thousand. O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.
(2) Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.
(3) Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.
(4) Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.
(5) That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me.
(6) God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
(7) Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;
(8) Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.
(9) Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?
(10) Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies?
(11) Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
(12) Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

The choice we make on a daily bases to obey God might effect the bigger picture of our life. Yet if God is not on our side always in the since of us always winning, are we truly outcasted as David felt he was at time of war when he was loosing. In the time period of Israel impeding exile to Babylon, Israel continued to hold down the fort of their cities thinking the victory was truly there and not necessarily how the prophets declare their loss. God for centuries when people are in the wrong turn away so their own mistakes can swallow them whole as well as declared the destruction of relying on their ability to win or be right based on their ability. Yet David was a praying man and yet he knew what it was not to be in the right but outcasted by God.

State of exile from the will of God can be seventy years in dry harsh world, or in other words a time of learning to obey God. Israel had to learn to obey God in their wilderness after defeating Pharaoh with the crossing of the red sea. Yet God had clearly won the battle against the oppressor called Pharaoh. Over a four hundred year exile from the Promise Land from when Joseph had his brother’s come to Egypt so their families would not starve. Was coming to Egypt punishment for His Joseph’s brother or a type of enslavement to come for their crime of selling Joseph into slavery. Joseph’s family was not always enslaved to Egypt. Yet one family of obedience and faith seen their son rise into power to lead their people out of the land of Egypt. Yet Moses had been outcasted from his own people because of sin where he took Egyptians life. Now he would lead his family back to the promise land.

I sometimes wonder about God’s revivals of faith that takes hold of His people. Moses after seeing the burning bush, his hand tu leprosy and his staff turned into a snake was not so ready to obey God on his own he wanted a spokesman for his leadership a go between, yet in the wilderness Moses lead the people having a personal relationship with God. Aaron would not have the authority of Moses after the golden calf episode but he found forgiveness of God. His duties becoming to lead the people in sacrifices and worship, for the people feared Moses.

God’s abandonment is only til we understand our need to follow and obey Him. It not a permanent condition unless we want to make it a permanent condition of our heart by our choice of disobedience to God. Yet even with obedience to God, it does not mean you do not land up in the sewer like Jeremiah for a few days or exiled from your kingdom like David for a time period. Our disobedience leads us directly out of the will of God and into the will of Satan.

Our defeat is Satan’s victory. Yet it is only for a time if we repent of our sin, and learning of obedience in the wilderness that God will be victorious in our life once more. It like pouring alcohol in a wound it going to burn but it will clean it out and allow it to heal. One has to get the impurities out of their heart and the need for obedience to God in their head and heart, for the healing of the spirit of God to take place. A wound can not heal without infection being cleaned out and often on a daily bases. Sometimes a little soap and water does the trick and some antibodies are needed.

Children of Israel coming out of Babylon were naked marching home, but they learned to obey and believe God in exile. David had learned the truth of God’s word through disobedience of what would happen to him because of his adultery and killing of Bathesheba husband. Yet David feeling of hopelessness for a short time, brought reassurance of God’s mercy of deliverance through obedience and allowing correction in his life. With Correction came victory over his enemies once more and his enemies laying aside their arms to be enslaved to David.

We have to walk as outcast to understand the other side of the spectrum of those not with God, Yet we still have God in our life. Even the devil talked to God but found no deliverance for his sin. We have a deliver who is Christ Jesus our Lord through faith in Him according to God’s word. David did not have the promise of the Messiah, but had the promise of God’s word in His life. Yet he still had times of not always being in the presence of God because of his disobedience. The problems taking place in David kingdom did not only effect him but others. His disobedience caused others to question his ability as king and side with his son. Absalom. Yet Absalom pride was his hair the very thing that would cause his death. His hair weight over 500 pounds and was his glory. Yet his actions spoke treason. David served Saul though he would be king. Absalom look for a way to destroy His own father. One can not destroy God’s people without repercussions from God. Yet those same anointed people of God have to face their consequences for their actions as well if not by judgment of the people at least by the judgment of God. Yet with repentance comes victory once again. As long as your hands are raised towards God you will win and if your hands are hanging down you going to loose.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to win by your power and grace as we continue to learn obedience in all circumstances. Knowing Jesus saved us by His grace upon belief and repentance. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
