Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Numbers 27:12-23 KJV
(12) And the LORD said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.
(13) And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.
(14) For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.
(15) And Moses spake unto the LORD, saying,
(16) Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,
(17) Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd.
(18) And the LORD said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;
(19) And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.
(20) And thou shalt put some of thine honour upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.
(21) And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.
(22) And Moses did as the LORD commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:
(23) And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.

Moses admits he is a devil before the Lord. What I mean is listen to Moses response to God concerning the next leader. Take in note that Moses himself had lead sheep in the desert under his father in law instructions as well as God‘s. He would be allowed to look over into the promise land but would not be allowed to lead the people into the promise land because of sin of disobedience to God. Moses said Lord give them a man that can go before then in and out of the congregation before them and be not like sheep without a shepherd. In other’s word choose a man that can lead them into your presence Lord. Lead them out of your presence Lord. Moses for years had gone into the Tabernacle both alone and out without anyone following him in or out. They had a fear of God and felt they could not speak to God on their own. Wanted that leader that would help each of them have that relationship with God. Moses could not do that, they feared him as if he was a God.

There are leaders that have the ability to lead people into the church house and those that lead but never get people in the door. The anointing on Moses kept people from coming to the Lord, for they seen this man magnificence in faith, but inhuman in the since of being equal with them. There is time when these type of leaders are needed, but in truth the type of leader needed to bring Israel to the place they sought God for themselves would take a man like Joshua. A man who lived and walked among the people from a baby up. Moses had been in Pharaoh house, he did not make a leader to the little people except to get them from point A to point B. They needed a strong leader that could lead them to the land flowing with milk and honey a place of no enslavement but by choice. A place where people could be free and live their life in service to God. Joshua place would be bringing them into the congregation where Moses had made them fear God by His very presence. Many miracles and works had been done by God through the hand and voice of Moses before the people. He was like a God, not man with the need of God.

Though Moses could recognize his own devilishness by his godlike appearance to the people, he knew that power and ability had caused the people to follow him, but it did not help with Israel relationship to God individually. Moses seen the need not to have the people stand outside the tabernacle, but a need for a leader to bring them into the tabernacle. It takes a good minister to recognize the need to either step out of the church and allow someone to bring people in, or to lead with absence of numerical growth. There minister that help anchor the church and people in the church in faith and belief and those that seem to know how to just bring them in.

These big television minister learn early how to bring in people, and they still do into their church because of curiosity. Yet they do not have the evangelism ability because of their notoriety, for this reason they need strong evangelism circles. People who know how to reach out and yank people off the street. The failing of some churches is the lack of evangelism or the ability for some to talk to people on the street and in daily living. These people are needed to bring people into the congregation of the Lord.

A few years back it was said Billy Graham lead a street evangelism revival right out into the streets of where they congregated. Ministers had forgotten the old ways and need to be taught once more to evangelize. The Gospel of Christ needs everyday men and woman to spread the Gospel, not just preachers. Do the work of the ministry by leading people in and out of the congregation. Leading them into the right relationship with Jesus Christ. The right relationship of knowing when they can do no more in one church to lead people in to going to another to do the work of filling those pews.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for Christian evangelism of leaders that know how to lead and those that know how to lead them in and out not just give them a fear of God. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
