God's Wrath

Daily Devotions:by Christina Farris

Deuteronomy 32:15-22 KJV
(15) But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.
(16) They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger.
(17) They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.
(18) Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.
(19) And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters.
(20) And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith.
(21) They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.
(22) For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

What is it to forsake God and to choose idols that you could build yourself from your own hands. Paul talks about this passage in Romans 1, yet Deuteronomy puts a name on the culprit who forsook God and built idols. God waited to see what this generation of idolaters would become without faith in Him. He just did not destroy those that did not believe in Him, but he allowed them time to grow and become something on their own. In fact God gave idolaters space and allowed them to do whatever they were going to do, before destroying them.

God is clear there is no other God beside Him, yet he does not force anyone to believe and obey Him. There were people who did not believe in him that obeyed His ways. Some people believe people will be judge for their own merit of whether they are good or not. Whether their works will save them from destruction. Their works will not save them from death. Faith in Christ Jesus will save a person from eternal destruction. People of no faith that are good have eternal life without God in eternal torment.

The wilderness of Godís provision is there for people of faith. Yet even people of faith starve because they sacrifice their bread to the lost and dying. Scripture says not to cast your pearls before swine and yet believers due in hopes to see a few saved. The act of sacrifice is giving of yourself beyond human ability. The missionary that starved by giving up her bread to children knew the story of the loaves of bread and knew that the miracle was not happening for these children.

What is the point if God does not redo his miracles for starving children of this world. Did the missionary pray for bread, I do not doubt she did. If faith is so strong to move mountains why do children starve. Is it sin of the generation of people that fear not God?? Is it the refusal of humanity aid in certain regions of the world that do not want God in their country, so their people starve? Maybe a little of both.

When one weighs the result of faith and the result of no faith, one has to ask what of the issues of starving, child abuse, partiers, drunkards, and lawbreakers. Are they reaping their reward from God. Will they reap their reward with their evilness. What about good people of other faiths. Destruction comes because of no faith? The concept of standing on ledge or a very high ridge and walking across to the other side with protective gear or no protective gear. Life is a high wire act. No one knows when they will fall off the deep end and be injured, sick, crazy, destroyed by elements of the earth, or meet their maker face to face. Yet faith is a safety net guaranteed by God not to destroy you. Faith in Christ Jesus and sealed by His Spirit. Doing things Godís way and/or giving God glory for his mercy and grace through faith. To deny and to walk way is giving up the safety net, and when destruction comes and it will at least by death, grave and hell for those with no faith. Hell is a place with no grace and no mercy.

God gives the atheist and the idolatry time to see what they will become with their own hands only to destroy them. Much like a doctor taking a virus in a lab to see what it will and can become, before taking the cure and killing it. The virus of no faith, idolatry has a destruction date. One designed by God and not man.

Dear Heavenly Father may you grace abound and your mercy in hopes for redemption for the lost. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
