Every Sunday A Psalms: About God's Spirit
5/24/2015

Daily Devotions:by Christina Farris

Psalms 36:1-12 KJV
(1) To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD. The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.
(2) For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful.
(3) The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good.
(4) He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil.
(5) Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.
(6) Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast.
(7) How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
(8) They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
(9) For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
(10) O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.
(11) Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.
(12) There are the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast down, and shall not be able to rise.

Many of Davidís Psalms testify of Godís Spirit working in His life. David was anointed by the Holy Spirit to be king. To be king was David gift. What a royal position. Saul was anointed by the Holy Spirit and Godís Spirit was taken from him, and evil spirit caused havoc in his life. The Holy Spirit is sealed upon all believers in Christ Jesus. Saul only bridge to God was a prophet or a priest that could only do the sacrifice required for forgiveness of sin. God did not forgive Saul for disobedience. Yet disobedience is now covered by the one time sacrifice of Christ Jesus. Saul never repented for his disobedience. Yet David was a repented man who found the mercy of God on more then one occasion. He found not only Godís mercy, but God to be a teacher, a protector, a comforter, a supplier of the wantonness of the soul for pleasure. God satisfied Davidís heart in every way.

David had seen the evil ways of man, and those who feared not God, and yet he knew for himself that his desire was to obey God to follow Godís instructions and not to follow evil despite the human nature to do so. David, a king and a man born of Godís Spirit upon belief, and forgiveness given with repentance. Yet he had to do the sacrifices without having the one sacrifice Jesus. In the Old Testament the Spirit of God seems to be only given to certain people. In the New Testament He is given to all that believe and ask God for the ability to share the Gospel, to do a work designed by them to do. David was experienced in the Spirit. He knew what was to be corrected, but he still had intercessor of a priest and a prophet when he sinned. Jesus would be the intercessor for all mankind upon belief.

If you desire to have the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost to empower you for service whether it be a king, or a broom sweeper ask of God. Do not let this day go by without the empowerment of Godís Spirit to fill you with the power and the wordís of God for His service. Believe and receive is all you have to do. God desires to fill you with His Spirit for His service so you can testify of His works and who He is.

Dear Heavenly Father may the grace of God be glorified in the life of all believers. May every believer have the voice to share your word according to your Spirit and grace. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
