Daily Devotions:by Christina Farris

1 Thessalonians 1:4-9 KJV
(4) Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.
(5) For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
(6) And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:
(7) So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
(8) For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.
(9) For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

Godís kingdom is by election. Everyone is chosen but not all receive the Gospel. Satan was angel in heaven, who God thought was more beautiful then any other angel and Satan fell because he eventually thought he was equal to God. Satan was in authority over other angels, however he learn that he was not over God. Our election as children of God does not make us equal to God, or superior to other people. The election means we are chosen people of God through faith. Chosen and even favored because of eternal status upon belief in God. Satan eternity will be without God because of his choice to try and over throw God authority. To follow Christian leaders never take the place of Godís authority. Many churches have split because the question came between Godís authority through His word and manís authority. Many friendships have become nil and void when people wanted to control a person. Governmental control in government positions are for the protection of the government not always the protection of the soldier.

Godís control in a personís life is without freedom. Moses called to lead a people through the wilderness. Moses had free will in his position. He did do a few things God did not ask him to do. Some of those things were sin that cost him entrance into the promise land of Israel. Yet Moses seen in his journey with God, the works and miracles of God that could not be duplicated by man especially at the time they occurred. What the point, the journey with God is much like the soldier that joins the army never imagining seeing the world not only from a government point of view but the view of the people in plight because of war or poverty. The military sees the disasters and devastation and yet gets to see the smiles on those that receive help. That receive their kindness and aid.

Soldiers never stop being soldiers if their call was to care about the people of this world. Yet the soldier fallacy is when he thinks he is God. The soldier is called to serve, just like every American is called to serve their country by being at the least a citizen of the law. Yet the Christian is called to the service of God. Called to see not only the tears, the death, but the life and peace that comes with knowing God. The journey of a Christian soldier comes with knowledge of the power of God in the world we live in and also around us.

God called us all to know Him, yet not all receive the Holy Spirit word. Not all receive or listen to the Holy Spirit of conviction. Nor heed the will of God. God has the power to do his will in your life without your permission, but he created you and knows what will attract you to his military force. What will attract you to His kingdom and way of life. Yet he gave man free will of choice. If you join Godís army and be all that God wants you to be. You can join the army of the government and be all that you can be. What the difference if you all God wants you to be there nothing you can not do or accomplish with the power that God has ordained you with to do His will. If you join the army of the government you are limited to your own power and strength of what you can physically accomplish and achieve along with the limitation of the government over you.

Everyone called to Godís army, not everyone makes the cut in the military. Some chicken out before they even get started. God give the power and authority upon belief and receiving his Son as Lord, the power to do mighty works of God by His Spirit, by the name of Jesus. Yet this power is not by your will, but the will of God. You pray and expect an answer, you wait for open doors with golden streets, and you wait for the coming of the Lord. While you wait you get to know God as you learn to trust and walk by faith. Taking leaps where you normally would not and surviving things you thought you could not. Godís army ten times better then the military but there are Christians even in the military, making our military even stronger.

Godís is calling you to serve just like he called Thessalonians to serve. He called you to believe in Him, to take him at his word that He would save you from you sins upon belief in Christ Jesus. Are you willing to believe and join the best military force in the world. Called to the best service of our land. Called to love beyond our human nature, called to forgive, called to peace, called to suffer for the sake of Christ, and called to Godís mercy. It matters not where you are in life, God has called you to be all He can design you to be in his military force of love.

Dear Heavenly Father remind us of your military force of love that is unconditional that you have called us to by the very grace and salvation through belief in your Son. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
