Acts 1:21-26 KJV
(21) Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
(22) Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.
(23) And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
(24) And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,
(25) That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.
(26) And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
Is everything in the believers circle an act of God in the since of godly decisions. Do believers make choices without prayer. Can the church world function by decision making not by the power of God? Our nations leaders are chosen not by act of prayer by many, yet by others it is act of prayer to decide on who will be the best leaders of our land. The choice is made in our voting. It often ends up being who makes the best speeches and not based on necessarily work performance. If we examined the candidacy voting recorder would we still allow that person in office. If we combed through all their years of experience instead of taking their comrades word that they will make a good leader would we still place then office. Our way of choosing our public officials need more education. Fact is anyone can make a good speech, any one can be a mindless puppet in office taking the chair not by skills but by the ability to speak what others say.
Teachers often mimic there former teachers. Never ever realizing they do so. They are handing down tradition of how they were taught and what they were taught. Facts decided on by historians or scientist that have observations for years. No one realizing that other countries and world views have different opinions not only how things are taught but what the truth is. Even some devils do enough good things to make them look like good kings. Our world is ever changing and we have to hope that the political agenda of one area is not the political agenda ruling of our nation and world powers. To be American is to allow free thought, and free decision. To allow differences, even when one would like to destroy the opposition.
Manís view of godly leadership verses devils view of godly leadership is based on experience. Devil sees God has a control freak. Godís people see God has a protector from evil and things that tear down a nation. Within the religious world there is extremes and liberalism that is not so easily defined. It just things not of God can go from a simple vote of choice based on something not lining up with the Word of God to extreme evil. Culture only define by sex, money, drugs and rock and roll. Defined by crime and not the word of God. Defined by what feels good, buys, and sounds good. Despite whether it does. Contemporary. Some Christian artist might say rock and roll sound is not evil part it is the destruction that lyrics can cause by the thought it puts in oneís head. People that watch tv do understand about jingles in commercials you can not get out of oneís head, like the old Oscar Meyer commercials, or Green Giant. Those commercials after 20 years still come back to mind with the words or music. Godís music fancy lyrics that return even after the test of time, or by the Holy Spirit. It depends on how many one heard it. It use to be a commercial was played many times through the course of tv show and now you have to hope to see that cute commercial again.
What the point to my rant this morning about choices and free thought and mind control. It is about choices and how we view something that we see, feel, hear. The apostles that remained after Judas death and Christ resurrection and ascension were having to make a choice to fill the positions lost with the death of Judas. The position held by the keeper of the money bag. Yet was this necessary to have twelve. There were twelve tribes of Israel, and twelve princes of Ishmael. Yet is the number twelve so important, and in truth it not about numbers but about witnesses. The need to see who had witnessed the events of Christ ministry from the beginning to the end. Who could bare witness of truth and things being false. Who could verify the stories of Jesus. Who could testify to the truth. Yet John would only write to seven churches in the book of Revelations. There were only seven candlesticks in the palm of Jesus hand.
The truth of the matter what was voted on by the disciples did not mean that was the number of churches, it only reflected the number of witnesses of Christ ministry from the beginning of his life on earth in the flesh. There were other witnesses that spoke truth, but not all had been from the beginning. Not all had been a witness of majority of events. That is what the original apostleship was based upon.
Just like todayís decisions are based on those who can testify on the worth of a person applying for public office of whether is speech is worth the paper it was written on or not. Is your testimony worth the paper it is written on. Do you have accurate reports? Is what someone testify to as truth real. In truth we want accuracy of events of faith. No one remember the whole story. No one remembers the full account of everything. Yet what we can rely on is the testimony of Godís Spirit to our hearts. The churchís unity is necessary for growth and facts.
Dear Heavenly Father as decisions are made in the church world and the public arena, let your word stand in truth. Let the testimony of the believers be in unity. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
