Transformation
5/13/2015

Daily Devotions:by Christina Farris

Romans 8:6-17 KJV
(6) For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
(7) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
(8) So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
(9) But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
(10) And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
(11) But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
(12) Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
(13) For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
(14) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
(15) For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
(16) The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
(17) And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

The dividing of the believers is probably the one topic no one wants to talk about. There many that say Lord Lord, but they have no desire to change their ways. They believe in God and sing the praise of God. There people that have no desire for change but love to have knowledge of God. It kind of like a kid playing in mud, but never wanting to take a bath to remove the mud puddle from his body. Instead of cleaning up he goes about soiling everything else, from the couch, to the kitchen chair to the foot prints through the house. Instead of marching straight into the house, to the bathroom and taking a bath, he successfully dirty all that was around him. That is what a non transformer believer does.

Those that sing the praise of God and yet never change is like the kid with mud puddle all over him that refuses to get clean. As a believer there are times we are like the dirty little puddle boy. Yet other times we march right in and baptize ourselves in Godís word and sin is washed. This process of continual sanctification is something one goes through if they are a believer in Christ that desire cleanliness instead of sin. The mud on the boy is not instead his body but it on the outside where anyone can see it. That mud is spread able to all that watch and say that Christian did it, so it must be okay to do. The theology behind that is one is not taking responsibility for their bad behavior. As a believer Christ paid our sin debt, but he can not be blamed for our sin. Yet some will say he placed the forbidden tree in the garden. The problem with that is man still had responsibility of his choice to eat the fruit. After all the fruit was beautiful and perhaps that is why God made it. He made because of the beauty of it. Yet Godís creation caused man to sin, no. Man caused man to sin and man still chose to sin. The first temptation coming from the serpent and the second coming from the woman. Mud travels and it can go far and wide if there is no change.

What is change does it come from Jesus or does it come from our own willingness to change and walk by the Spirit of God? It simple really when you receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, you are asking Him to be Lord of your life. However sometimes it takes years to yield to Christ in every aspect of our life or one yielded for a time and played in the mud without seeking Godís about the choice in life. One playing as a believer in the mud puddle might even feel the prick of the the Holy Spirit warning not to do it. Yet our humanity sometimes triumphs over what is right verses what we should do. Yet if one will listen to the Spirit of God given to all believers in Christ Jesus upon the day of salvation, then one would not have to worry about the mud puddle in the road. One would just skip over the puddle, or go around it because they know it does not please God.

Now letís say a person got the mud from the puddle on him/herself, and he or she realize he/she should clean him/herself, or he/she even remember the warning of Godís Spirit and did it anyway. There is process of sanctification over the issue. It understanding that it is sin, understanding perhaps why it is sin, and why God does not want he/she to do that particular sin. Yet he/she is already forgiven for the sin through the cross. Forgiveness already gained, but the sanctification process needs a little work. A true believer will work on those things that are wrong. Sometimes it is a slow process and sometimes it is quickly handled by Godís grace, as one yield to the Spirit of God.

One has to work on learning to be willing to change for the Lord. If we desire to change and walk by Godís leading we know we are Godís children and call out Abba Father. Being baptized by the Spirit of God is that continual changing process by the direction of the Holy Spirit. Learning to walk by the power of the Holy Spirit is not of force of man, but by direction and will of God in the believers life. Desiring to live for God and striving to live for God, not by oneís own power but the power of yielding to the Spirit instructions in life.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to walk by your Spirit. Help us as believers to do your will and not our own. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
