Time Of Christ: Mother's Day Eve: Mother's Protector
5/09/2015

Daily Devotions:by Christina Farris

Matthew 1:18-25 KJV
(18) Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
(19) Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
(20) But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
(21) And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
(22) Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
(23) Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
(24) Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
(25) And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Is chivalry dead to the point that men no longer defend their wives, who are the mother of their children. God created man first not because women would not be equally or more equally strong then men, but because there has to be first. Yet God’s instruction to Adam was that Eve was to be his helpmate. A helpmate a person to share the burden in life. Joseph a man chosen by God to be a helpmate for Eve. A helpmate because she would need a protector as well a provider for her first born son. A son not by natural means, but by the Holy Spirit. God’s provision is not always manna from heaven, but able body person who will shelter the women in his embrace. Joseph had already decided he would protect Mary, but had not chosen to defend her until God instructed him to do so. Joseph was fair man that he would just have Mary put away quietly instead of in a public arena. Joseph had enough respect for Mary that he wanted no harm to come to her, despite who the father might be. God spoke to Joseph about Mary His betroth/engaged.

God had not covet another man’s wife, nor had God sinned, for it was by His word Mary conceived a son by unnatural means. Women if you are conceiving unnatural means can it then be sin. God did not think so thousand of years ago. Yet God never attend you to have to go through pregnancy alone. Many women have had to go through pregnancy alone, because of a loss of a husband, rape, or choice of pregnancy outside marriage by unnatural conception. God desires to be your protector, and yet in this process he gave woman a husband, chosen prior to her even be created. Eve never had a choice in her protector, yet when she tricked her spouse, how much help was she really.

God’s protection is best, but society dedicated that Mary be put to death if she was found to be adulteress, or a fornicator. God’s intervention protected Mary. God’s preplan protected Mary. God’s protection is all some mother’s have and yet God has the ability to put people around to help a mother. To help provide for her needs even in pregnancy. Mary would need Joseph in Jewish society, yet she would be free to work. To sell her creations in the market square and exchange and barter her wares. Yet it was a male dominate society. An she would need a protector of her life, for not all would believe the story of the Holy Ghost.

God protectors women, if they are his children. Mary was devout woman of faith, she was favored by God. To be favor is to have faith. You can not be favored by God without faith. Sarah, Hannah, and Samson’s mother all favored by God to have a child, despite their baroness. Yet all were by conception and God opening up their womb. Sarah lacked faith, but she would conceive as a testimony all things are possible. Samson mother would know she was blessed by the Lord. Hannah new God loved her and redeemer her from her humiliation. Yet Mary humiliation was caused by God, that is why God gave Mary a protector, so she would be protected from society.

If a woman is married she has little fear of talk from the world, yet if she is unmarried the world sees the woman in a very different light, even in today’s society. Even if society except woman condition of being unmarried, there always someone that abuses an unwed mother. I do not doubt that women who loose their husbands due to war, accident, or illness, have to deal with abuse of society occasionally because of their ignorance and intolerance of women that might be called a tramp, harlot, jezebel, hussy, hooker and a few more names. It matters not if the woman cares for her children and works everyday, people tend to chastise people that are different then their way of thinking.

Yet God has a way of protecting his own, and even sometimes allowing them to go through humiliation for a purpose. After all Elizabeth had to deal with opposition until she conceived and had the forerunner of Christ, John the Baptist. Rehab was harlot but a protector of Israel. God has the ability to cover the sin of the transgressor. The woman caught in adultery found no accusers and Jesus told her to go and sin no more.

Sin is never justified, but sin to one might not be sin to another. Until they realize it was not God’s intent to leave his children unprotected. Protection always came by faith even from before the time of Abraham. Eve was not protected from the consequences of sin because she did not believe God. God’s protection would be demonstrated through the birth of a Savior Jesus Christ, because those who would look to Jesus and believe would be saved. God’s provision was by faith in His Word, The Word that became flesh and dwelt among man fulfilling the promise of God that would protect all mankind from their sin.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for providing a protector and forgiver of sin if we will believe in Jesus. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
