Unconditional Love For the Brethren
03/21/2021

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

1 John 5:1-2 KJV
1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

Jesus is born of God, not just born by the Spirit, but by the very word of God. He is a part of man. When I was a kid, I remember learning about a tradition by Indians that would cut themselves to become blood brothers. Now I do not suggest this, but they put cut to cut so their mingled with each other. It showed their brotherhood to another especially to whitemen they became friends with. There brotherhood meant they would protect each other like a brother. I sure it became difficult at times because of the government laws and regulations and control of tribes.Yet at times it was a life saving to each other, for it was code of individuals and not governmental law or Indian tribe law it was a brotherhood of men to protect each other.

Jesus desire brother and sisterhood between the believer because of his blood sacrifice he was willing to give for their spiritual birth. It would be the cleansing of sin, he would die for you and me, to cleanse our sin from us, to cover by his blood and through his resurrection we have a new life with him. We become the saints of God, the children of God by spiritual birth. The desire of God to use this spiritual birth as a means to combined our hearts with each other as well as himself. Desire was for the believer to learn to love God and Jesus as they did each other. In the prayer in the garden John 17, Jesus prayed for the flock of God. He prayers for those that would be his by spiritual birth. One thing that he prayed for was their unity with each other, as he and the Father were one. He talked about how the world with his Father how the world hated the believer.

It was because of the original love of God that God sent Jesus to be the Savior of the world. Jesus is not saying to show love to the world, he saying he wants to see the brotherhood and sisterhood in the believers first especially as he went to the cross. That kinship seen in families, groups of people, that believer will not be stranger among other believers. That they be treated as family that truly loves each other by the word of God.That the divider and uniter be the word of God, that Jesus would be the one thing that would united the church and Jesus would be the correcter by being the word of God through the Spirit. That unconditional love would be shown to each other has God and Christ had the bound of love demonstrated on the cross. Jesus suffering and dying for sin not his own by human law. The love of God not to say my son is better then you but your equal while on earth. He had to follow the rules of the world in regards to punishment, not to faith.

It is the idea of would you go to prison undested of a crime if you are charged with one? In our nation that is what is expected if you break a law that is punishable. He did so to be one of us, if we allow him to be part of us, through obedience of man's law, but even so man understood not that he paid their price for their sin against God by killing his Son on the cross. He became the intercessor with those words He said when dying, "Father forgive them for what they do". The very denial of God's word, the very betrayal of truth is even our sin today. What mean is no matter how many times people speak truth, and follow Christ teaching while on earth, we sometimes twist the meaning forget the power of love for people need a chance to grow in faith and in the word of God, to develop in faith. We may be sanctified through the blood of Jesus but as we walk this life on earth we also need be daily sancified through his word. This is why John seems to write obedience to God's commandments more then anyone, but the commandment is love. And God is love. God is love in its purest form, because it not grievous and not a burden but the yoke is light to wear, to love others as you would yourself, accepting them for who they are in Christ as believers, and loving the world, as God loved them with alot of mercy. That same mercy we must first learn to show the church. The fact God's word shows God's people mercy and only judgment when things get really bad.

If you can't learn to love the church unconditionally as your brother and sister in Christ you will not learn to love the world as God so loved the world. We love our sisters and brothers with the word of God. Teaching them what the Gospel really says about love, and brotherly love and unity. Striving for peace within the church. Allowing decisions to be made by the word of God and not by what one thinks is right despite what the word says.

Jesus compassion before the cross tells of how he wanted this family of believers to be all together united, and he prayed they would be. He was getting ready to pay for their sin by his word. The word that could not and would not be changed after said and received with hope everlasting.

In the very third verse of John 17 Jesus said that they might know the only true God and Jesus Christ. What does this mean, if Jesus is part of the Godhead bodily. His Christ flesh God, no but the incorruptible flesh of Christ is, speaking of ability of destruction . He speaking from his humanity, his human flesh the part that makes him equal to us and not the Father. Christ is speaking in all his humanity here, something not fully understood or seen by many, because of the knowledge of his Lordship. It is the very thing that divides those that accept Christ as a prophet or good teacher and the other group of people that believes in Christ divinity. He never stop being who he was as God's Son/Word but he became something more in regards as coming in the image of man, he became like one of us in all humanity. Has Christ prayed he speaking in his humanity, when he did not want to bear the burden of humanity in Luke or Matthew when he prayed remove this cup and not my will but yours be done. Our humanity is like Christ humanity at times when we suffer for the hate of the world, or for loving God or others.

The hope of Jesus was that the world would know that God sent him to be the Savior for sin. That world would understand as the believers did. That they would desire to know and love him. He wanted to leave the world hope by the example of the believer.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to love you and not you alone but Christ and the church. To love the world unconditionally as you do, and to love Jesus and the church by the word of unconditional love and mercy. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: John 17:1-26 KJV
1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.
8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
