The Vision Of Christ

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Revelation 1:9-20 KJV
9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;
20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

John see a man with age. His hair white like wool. This man called himself the Alpha and The Omega, the first and the last. White hair man claims to be God, and creator of Israel according to the depiction of Alpha and Omega/first and last in Isaiah 44:6 there is no other God. This white hair old man declaration of God to John on the Isle of Patmos. John is in the spirit. What does that mean exactly, maybe in a form of a trance, or meditated state. Sounds more like voodu then Christianity. Why bring up meditation or trance like state. We know John had seven candles and their was fire or flames of candles present. We must stop for a moment and understand several things happening, this vision occuring in meditation/trance was without drinking, smoking or drugs of any kind. It was done in ceremony to produce halluciations. It was not a trance or meditate state with the help of other devices. If any of these things had been used it would of been sometype of witchcraft or deception. One can be in a deep prayer and feel the power of God upon them. Even in a state of not vision but a reality of God's presence. Mary was not having vision when she seen Gabriel, nor was Paul at the time of his blinding. Yet Joseph had a dream when God spoke to him and so did the wisemen. The manifestation of God in royal garment holding the seven church around him and seven angels in his hands. His tongue was a flaming sword, meaning his words cut to the heart of John soul. Jesus is the first word of God and the last word of God. Is who is seen by John Jesus? He also writes he looks like the Son of Man, a title given to Jesus. Yet he also has the keys to hell and of death.

One might wonder about prison on Patmos Island and did this man carry a candle labra through the prison. Did his man lock the prisoners away, and he would be the first person seen and last seen? As John writing this depiction of Christ coming to the seven churches come from a physical manifestation of a guard on the Island of Patmos. Ezekiel had such visions as God spoke to him through events he seen with his eyes about his coming and his redemption and words of comfort to the believers of Israel.

I wonder sometimes if God's visions are more of the Holy Spirit speaking of events before and after, that allowed John to write this words of comfort, hope and redeemption and hope in Patmos. Has the Holy Spirit speaks to John we know several things that God holds the angels in his hands and the candlesticks being the church, God places the angles over each church.

When we look at prophetic books we must look at evironment, what it means to be in the Spirit, maybe even a time of rejoicing whether heart or verbal, yet the vision came, with the appearance of man like the Son of Man. If the Holy Spirit speaking with tongues of fire, the depiction of the man tongue is clear, because God was speaking to John about the church and his protection over the church and that he held the keys to hell and the grave.

This physical visitation from God can only come in fleshly state, for one can not see Spirit. God is Spirit, if God be Spirit it is either Jehovah who walked in the garden with Adam and Eve or it is Jesus or they are one in the same. Some believe the fourth man in the fire in the book of Daniel was Jesus or the premanifestation of Christ.

Most be aware to understand that visions do not come hallucinations, but communication of God's Spirit through normal events around about someone, or through a physical manifestation from God. There are no barriers between God and man. Most that read Revelation 1 believe this description of Christ, because the passage in Revelation 1:9 begins with the testimony about Jesus. Who does John believe Jesus to be but God who came in human flesh according to John 4:3. Without belief Christ came flesh then one is antichrist. Do you believe John vision is much like Ezekiel's or more like Paul's blindness coming to him of a physical event. Ezekiel was more spoken by the Spirit of God to him, while John's may of been a physical manifestation of Christ. It could of a dream state and physical one, as if in a type of daze.

Later in Revelation the throne room reveals God and the lamb of God in the center of the throne. If we read all the depiction of Christ and his position as Lamb is different then his royal seat in heaven. We must remember God meaning Elohim meaning three, so God the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit with the title Alpha and Omega the first and the last. I talked about the trinity and the unity of the Trinity being one, but it also seen separate yet unified in power. If you seen Jehovah as Isaiah did, you know you seen Jesus as John did. Look up the word Lord God in Hebrew from Genesis to Revelation in the Hebrew and Greek if you have any doubts.

We need no drugs to speak to Jesus, no hallucinations, or alcohol or be filled with God's Spirit. With John in the Spirit of the Lord that day, praising God, praying, meditation on the things of God, Christ appeared to him in the vision to strengthen him to help write the seven churches he could no longer physical minister too, but could still write to them.

Alot of people will think many things when reading Revelations but not all is true, and to look back in the Old Testament and go forward as well as backwards as if reading the Hebrew language one can understand John was writing in the language of two historical people Jews and gentiles saved and lost from Christ's church.

Next time when you reading Revelations 1 you know it is a vision from God not with any drugs, and with the full knowledge of the Trinity being one God yet three persons. HOld to the hope of faith and understand, it deep as it is wide.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us read your word with understanding of the visions of yesteryears as if they are today. Let us see you still hold the ministers in your hand and church is still the resting spot for the minister to shine in. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
