Time Of Christ: The Triumphal Entry
03/19/2016

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Luke 19:32-48 KJV
(32) And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them.
(33) And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt? (34) And they said, The Lord hath need of him.
(35) And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.
(36) And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.
(37) And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;
(38) Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
(39) And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
(40) And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
(41) And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
(42) Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
(43) For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
(44) And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
(45) And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought;
(46) Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.
(47) And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,
(48) And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

The declaration of kingship would only cause the Romans to come after Jesus, for it would take away the authority of Rome in the people’s life. It a type of declaration that begins a revolution. A revolution they thought that would bring the rule of Judaism back to the Jewish people. Yet the Messiah coming was not about earthly kingship. Yet all the display of Christ royalty was being shown on the road to his death in a weeks time.

If I was trying to protect myself I would not allow someone to put a crown on my head. That is like putting a x mark the spot for potential death or life, depending on the outcome of what it would mean to take an earthly throne. If I say the church is the bride of Christ and I am part of the church of Jesus Christ in the since of the universal church of believers, then I am going to be sitting with my Lord on the throne. Yet it does not make me a king. Jesus is King in heaven by the authority of God almighty. Yet the people wanted Jesus to be king of the whole earth. They looked for the Messiah to take an earthly throne. One made with human hands and not by God the Father. His anointing and his triumphal entry all marking him as the potential candidate to die because the anointing marked Jesus preparation for death and the triumphal entry sealed his fate when He did not begin a revolution of the earthly kind to over throw Roman.

The miracles alone spoke of Jesus being the Messiah, the one to come to take power from the heathens. Take authority from the dictators of the Roman government. Who would not want a king or leader that did miracles of healing, told stories and parables to explain life, and spoke to the crowd in a way that spoke to their heart about faith in God and the need for repentance. A man that spoke up against the hypocrites of the religious leaders. A man that did not discriminate against the gentiles. The gentiles had lived among the Jews and some had even befriends some depended on what side of Israel you lived on. Where the people from the kingly or governmental line or the solely the priestly line, or both. Religious zealots are often separatist, and religious political people have adapted to dealing with those different then them unless they were zealots of faith. It much like the liberals and fundamentalist of our world that claim Christ but one is extremist and the other is often too liberal to understand that liberalism can make their faith look compromised by legal law. Conservatives taking more fundamentalist approach only apply their faith to themselves while allowing others their own choice that they to desire. Choosing to live as fundamentalist except when it comes to politics.

The uprising came from the people who desire Jesus to become both a religious and political leader over the people of the earth. Not understanding Jesus throne was in heaven. One day Jesus will establish an earthly throne but the time was not at the triumphal entry. Yet Jesus declaration that the rocks would cry out at the rebuke of the Pharisees only spoke that God had ordained the events that was taking place. The crowd declare Christ king. One thing used against him to get him killed. The other being He was equal to God. How important then is the resurrection, to his kingship for the future and for his return? How important is His Lordship for His resurrection? If kingship would kill him, then his resurrection was not nearly as important for even with the resurrection he did not take earthly throne. Yet his Lordship was important for establishing the power of God to raise the dead. He already demonstrate the power of resurrection with Lazareth and a few others. Yet his demonstration resurrection as far as raising himself up was a different story because it would demonstrate his power to overcome the decree of the law of death. Christ resurrection spoke the power after the grave. Not just in life. Many leaders have power, of course not to heal by touching someone. But authority to lead and draw a crowd. Their charisma is enough to get the people to follow without any real knowledge of who the person might be. Yet not one person other then Jesus had the power to raise themselves up again. A few years ago one leader our nation knows went from bankruptcy to running for president. Some would say he knew how fall and how to rise up again. Yet others would say he had charisma, yet only an earthly kind.

See the difference in who Christ is was authority beyond the grave. Only God has power beyond death. The power to condemn and to save them that are lost after death. on this side of eternity we know all sin leads to death and destruction. With sin it leads to condemnation. Not one person is perfect. Yet faith in Christ brings about our redemption. Taking God’s word at the power of His forgiveness. God had to show His Son’s authority by seeing him rise after his declaration of death being of the third day. There was no way he was alive. The beating alone pour out his blood, The sword in his side drained out anything left his body.

The triumphal entry symbolizing the charisma of our Lord to have power on earth to draw all men to him, yet him not taking that throne but laying his life down caused the crowd to cry crucify. Yet the crowd played into God’s hands for he use the resurrection to redraw the crowd to him. To draw all men to hope of eternal life. That if God forgave you in this life, then you were free in the next life to live forever in paradise with God and His Son.

Pharisees were plotting Jesus demise for they did not want to loose their authority over Jerusalem as religious leaders. They did not want their power to end. As some nations of Islamic world change to democracy the end of the religious power over the land begins to be seen. It is a declaration of authority that may lead to not always on of religious authority. Christians and Jews as watch the power change even in their own worlds. Some knowing for a fact that some leaders in power were not always of faith as they were, but receiving their authority because of their fairness towards them.

The political struggle of religious right verses the gentiles of the world. Pharisees wanted destruction. Wanted Jesus gone, they wanted their power an authority intacted. They wanted not even God’s authority to reign. The final battle is about God authority and Satan uprising to be destroyed. Godly power has always been allowing people freedom to choose, yet once that choice is made one is sitting either in hell or under the authority of God. Who do you serve a loving God who’s authority is about doing things right and being good. Or being evil and choosing the power of darkness to rule that has no authority over life and death?

Dear Heavenly Father as we choose your way of life, let it be with the knowledge of freedom of choices you given to your people with the power of forgiveness. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
