Mark 11:12-26 KJV
(12) And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:
(13) And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.
(14) And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.
(15) And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;
(16) And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.
(17) And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.
(18) And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.
(19) And when even was come, he went out of the city.
(20) And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
(21) And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.
(22) And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
(23) For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
(24) Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
(25) And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
(26) But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

One of this most important issue of today’s world is whether or not to keep our traditions or to cast them out. It is hard to decide if our tradition still have value today of long ago. Do they get put in the archives for another season. As I reflect on this thought my own thought of whether or not to archives my first new issue of turtle30cshell home page or not comes into question. Do I want to save it for history, or do I want to trash it. Knowing tomorrow knowing God provision for April and all issues to come. Easter week is probably much like that, do you start fresh or just repeat what you did last time. I pride myself on no reruns, but I do keep copies. Have for a long time. God’s word is precious, my thought only precious to the one above and to those that it helps draw them closer to knowing God. And Christ their Savior.

One might ask if Jesus cut off the fig tree, why did he do so when it was not in season yet. It had to do with issue of sin. God cuts off sin, even when there is fruit potential. The temple prophesy of destruction was coming soon. God would cut it off because of sin. Jesus would be cut down by the Pharisees only to be brought back. The temple destruction was only temporal it would be brought back. A cleansing and a purging had to occur. As we look over the last 60 years and acknowledge of Israel as a state we must also look at how Christ is established in the heart of each believer. Sin has no place in the life of a believer. Doubt has no place in the believers heart. Many leaders of the temple believed in Jesus, especially with the last cleansing of the temple before his death. His Father house would not be called a den of thieves but a house of prayer. Many religions sold in their temple and even had sex slaves for those visiting. God’s house was not like that. God’s house was purified from all impurity. It was a place to come and worship God, not to buy and sell.

What would Jesus say about fundraisers and selling in the sanctuary for mission work. Was not offerings taken for the temple. Was not offerings a means of provision for the church. These money changers in the temple were not doing it for the church but for themselves. It was so their people had pocket change. It was like a yard sale or a big flea market type of event that belong at the city fair grounds or else where, but not in the temple.

God’s house is not a place for thieves to promote sin. Yet what you hope is that life of prosperity in God’s house would continue despite the casting out. Yet God would still allow it’s destruction. Yet Christ would rise and the temple of God would be rebuild by a group of people not Jewish. People that founder even studied both Christianity and Judaism, yet began his own group of faith. To purge the temple mount it would have to be destroyed and rebuilt. That not going to happen, it easier to just cut something away. Yet the call of faith in Christ Jesus is to all who believe in Jehovah God.

Where is faith, but in the recess of our heart and mind or our action. God’s work must be provided for. Yet sin in God’s work has no place, it will destroy a church, but build a place of popularity among the heathen. Church work is for the work of God and outside work for your table and support of your church, family and sometimes strangers. What are doing? Where are you going? Is your faith standing. Is your work you do for God without sin. Does your work need purging?

Was the last rebuilding of the temple because of a need of God’s law in society or a need to cause division between our government and our faith. Faith is no refined to only a building. It defined by the heart. Something no man can see, only God. Jesus knew the heart of man. He seen that fig tree producing bad figs and destroyed it. If God cuts it off then God cuts it off and if man cuts it off then it man’s destruction.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for your cutting, pruning and chopping away of sin. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
