Luke 8:1-8 KJV
(1) And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,
(2) And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,
(3) And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.
(4) And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:
(5) A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
(6) And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
(7) And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
(8) And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

If you have a crowd of people often it is necessary to feed them if they gather more then a few hours. The woman gave out of their substance. We often think of the story of the five thousand as being an unusual event Yet in truth it is not. The event of the feeding of the five thousand is that the miracle was wrote by the hand of Jesus. The feeding of the crowd in general was taken care of by the women. Where the money came from to provide for so many I have no clue except we know Judas was in charge of the money bag. Yet food was provided, whether this was always physical food such as bread or if it was also story telling, spreading the word along of the work of Christ. We do know the disciples in general did go out two by two into the highways and by ways of the surrounding village and brought people to Jesus.

Jesus spoke about the story of the sower, Yet the story of the sower was a story about how the word went forth and was planted in the heart of man. The seed of God fell among those that received it in the heart and mind, some people have deaf ears or are blind and others take it to heart but it did not take root in heart and mind but for a short time. Jesus actually had to explain the parable to his disciples about the sowing of seed.

It is not so easily understood until you try to teach someone something. It does not matter what it is. If someone is interested in learning, they will often practice or at least try it. Some learn information for the expansion of memorizing for the moment to pass a test. Another learns it to apply it currently and later in life. Some learn it only to forget the moment they walk away from the person teaching it to them. My husband would say I get deaf to him if he ask me a question and I am doing something else that takes all my concentration. I hear what he says, but by the time he done, I can not remember what he said or asked. Is that problem it is if he has something that he needs a response from me.

The Word of God is something to take and to live by and absorb into the very membrane of our being, done to the marrow of our bones, heart and mind. It is to be received with gladness, but received and comprehended. Yet in truth something take time to absorb into the heart, soul and mind of a person. It is for spiritual substance needed in life. Faith is like a seed planted. Once planted it takes root even if only for a moment. Mothers often teach or give life to there kids about faith, yet it takes God to implant those teachings that come from both parents. Yet without the seeds of the word of God giving life from God’s spirit there is no faith. Even the devil sows the word of God and twisting it to give what he thinks is flavor, but is only a deception. Women gave food but Jesus gave the word. Jesus gave word substance with the feeding of the five thousand. He brought the word He preached to life. Parables brought the word to life for those hearing. Disciples sometimes did not understand and ask for explanation. Jesus freely gave to all that desired more.

Jesus told Peter to feed the lambs, the sheep and the sheep fold. He did not say to starve the masses with substantial particles, but food that would bring life to the individuals. Even our government has standards of food going to foreign lands. Even our country has FDA regulation in the supermarket. God’s regulation is His word undefiled given and eatable by all.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the word you proved for our heart and soul. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
