Luke 4:37-42 KJV
(37) And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.
(38) And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.
(39) And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.
(40) Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
(41) And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.
(42) And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.

Anyone with charisma seems to have no trouble drawing a crowd. In fact today even the right actor, singer, minister and so forth can draw a crowd in the city streets just because of what they are speaking or singing. Imagine for a moment adding the ability to heal to this talent and you got an audience or a group of followers that go just to see what will happen next. It not a crowd easily pushed aside so you can eat or sleep. It would be a crowd going from house to house to all that were sick and dragging them to you, so they could be made whole. The lame, the crippled, the blind, the deaf and anything known not to be treatable by at the very least modern technology within a good days rest. This was the crowd that was following Jesus. Jesus went to Simeon house to find Simeon’s mother in law sick with a bad fever.

No illness is to great or to small for Jesus. Yet the error comes when we think Jesus can not heal. Yet since He left our world physically the healing in the massive have not taken place. Even TV evangelist have been caught with people faking illnesses just to get close to them. Just to say God is not real. Peter after the time of Jesus physical departure was known to walk in the city streets and his shadow just passing over healed many. Paul is said to be full of the Holy Spirit like Peter with the power of God just healing just by the shadow from him. Many claim there been many healings in India and around the globe by the masses by people just hearing for the first time the Gospel message. It is the people with the little boo boo that worries me. It not that the boo boo is not important to Jesus, It is that many that fake healing understand not the power of God. God is not pleased with fakery. Yet one real healing can cause an avalanche of people seeking to see if they too will be healed. In truth many walk away today sadden because they sought the minister and not God.

Jesus healed Simeon’s mother in law who had a fever, it seems for a purpose. She immediately got up and waited on Jesus, Simeon and whoever else was present With healing comes a responsibility. For some it is the ability to go back and help their family. Sometimes it is to help bring others to Jesus for healing, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Whatever healing is needed God performs through His word by the believer because of faith. Because of hope, because the desire for healing spiritually needs a boost for faith. Jesus physically might not be present with us even now, but his Spirit is in the heart of all believers.

Resigning to the fact that death is a form of healing, is sometimes a difficult one when one looses one they have been praying for the miracle seems lost. Yet knowing the power of Jesus makes one question why. Why were they not healed and another was. If it was not about a lack of faith then it must be about God’s timing. Or maybe there is a reason not foreseen at the time of death to those left behind, but later is understood. Maybe it is just maybe that a person has suffered enough in his or her life time that dying was healing. To be in the arms of Jesus is to be healed completely. No more pain and no more sorrow. Yet it is not our decision to make. It is God’s decision who He heals to press on another day. It is for His purpose and glory. Let us not be blind to the ways of God or forget the masses that follow Jesus for healing dragging people who medical doctors of that time could do nothing for. That is the miracle.

Dear Heavenly Father help those that ask and receive healing to know their purpose for their healing, as well as those not being healed understand why not now. We know Lord the masses were still being by the disciples as people heard the good news about you. Yet we ask why not now for some that seek. And the answer is you know the reason why. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
