The Prophetess
3/11/2015

Daily Devotions:by turtle30c

Luke 2:36-38 KJV
(36) And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;
(37) And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.
(38) And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

What does it mean to be prophetess. The world today seems full of false and true prophetess of God. Some even making declaration over people and declaring good things upon the souls seeking a word of knowledge from God through a medium/minister. A witch doctor does not seem to belong in the same line as a minister, but in truth unless truth comes forth from a minister and it obvious the world knows little difference. Response is did it come to pass what was spoken and if it did not, then the excuse is it was not in God’s timing. If you ever watch a movie about the ancient world the idea of a prophetess speaking over a baby is not new. However Anna was a prophetess of God not of witchcraft or sorcery.

How can one know the difference of who is of God and who is not the Christian will say the Spirit of God, but unbelievers need more evidence then just a quick answer of the Spirit of God. My first question is are you seeking a prophetess or God. Any minister has the ability to be sorceress to you. Meaning you seeking him or her out and not God.

Mary and Joseph did not go seeking the woman minister in the temple, she just came in and start speaking of the redemption of Israel concerning her Son. She spoke no doubt the words God gave her. She obeyed the Lord with her voice. She did not come seeking money, but spoke the truth of who Jesus was said to be. This was already prophesied to both Mary and Joseph before the birth of Jesus, yet she declared it to others.

The looking for a redeemer must begin with God and God’s redemption for His people, not our plan of saving ourselves. Knowledge of God might come from our teachers and ministers, but they are not fortune tellers, but speak the message and truth from God. God’s redemption known to Israel before His birth and after His birth. Let us not forget the hope after the resurrection of Jesus. Anna spoke with knowledge from God. She was old and fasted everyday since the death of her husband and living in the temple. Fast not because she had nothing to eat but by choice, because of her dedication to God. This fast perhaps was more like a meal a day or skipping a meal. Yet during that meal time she perhaps would of spent time praying and studying the Word of God. No doubt she understood many things concerning the Messiah. Understanding the redemption was spiritual and not necessarily physical in her day, like it is now. Yet one day redemption of God’s people will also be in the physical sense of Christ return. The first of a long time prophesy had been fulfilled with the Virgin birth. This issue understood by the leaders as being of God, Now that the birth had happened and arrival of the baby was real, and the truth was made known to those within the temple walls. Within the religious realm.

Is the Word of God being spoken from the minister, or is the prophesy of the human desire. Anna said Jesus was the redemption of Israel. What did that really mean. Did the temple people understand. Jesus would come to teach the lost sheep of Israel and the truth of God to the gentile while on earth. A time of redemption of bring people back to the reality of God through signs and wonders. His coming like a movement of faith. A testimony of truth. This was the first female minister that began to evangelize the temple of who Jesus was. A prophesy over 400 years old coming to pass. Perhaps she was to old to see the crucifixion come to light, but not to old to say Her Redeemer lives.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the knowledge in our hearts as believers that Jesus Christ is alive and will return one day because you give that hope inside all believers. Your word always true and countable, not like the sorceress and devils that try to imitate through soothsaying. For they understand not the truth of the your word. May your Word arise in our world today and devil be defeated. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
