Current Daily Devotion can be found by hitting dailies and pushing Daily Devotion, 3/08/2015 Daily Devotions:by turtle30c Psalms 25:1-22 KJV As a women I am looking at every Sunday A Psalm, I have to wonder where there not any women that sang? The Prophetess Miriam played the cymbals and lead the women in singing unto the Lord. Yet women have played many roles through out history, yet some never taking the lime light for their deeds. Perhaps rightly so with the state of the prominent male society that existed in many cultures but not all.. It is not that women had no say, or did not speak out, it is simply woman have been treasured and protected through out the ages. There work often behind the scenes in society, even when they were needed for knowledge in society. Deborah a judge was in the forefront of society who even though she tried hard to allow a man to lead still found herself in the forefront of battle, yet the victory was not hers but another woman. Yet Huldah the wife of the Prophet Shalhun during the time of Hilkiah the high Priest and Josiah the King who herself was a prophetess and keeper of the wardrobe and conversed with the men at the college, or city gate. The temple had been cleaned and the book of the law of God discovered with no one with the ability to interpret or explain it but Huldah the Prophetess for the king. Huldah herself seems not to have approached the king to educate him but instructed the prophet and priest of her day in the laws of God for instruction to the king Josiah who made inquiries concerning what the law meant. Josiah upon hearing the law of God repented and turned to the ways of God. Taking God’s word and law to heart in his life. Was this Psalms of David read during the time of Huldah perhaps. Perhaps the book of Psalms among the musicians of her day kept the songs in sweet assurance of truth of a former king and shared it with the current king Josiah. The point is the Psalms of David were meaningful to many people lives beyond David‘s. There purpose clear to glorify God, but they would bring strength to many generation that would come later on including today. God is able to instruct us his ways concerning his laws. He will provide a teacher or minister when needed to help in understanding, and His Spirit will speak to the heart concerning the book of laws that David so delighted in. Josiah heard the book of laws and was brought to repentance with understanding made possible by a woman who knew the law. Yet it was still the Spirit of God that taught and convicted the Spirit of Josiah. Josiah heart had to have a desire upon hearing God’s word to obey it. He had to have conviction in order to make inquiry of its meaning. He had to know there was hope to those that follow God. David a king knew all these things from youth to follow the ways of God and he delighted in the laws of God. Yet he fought against people not of His faith, as Josiah did. Casting the enemy out of the land of Israel. Both kings served God, yet God was pleased with Israel at the time of David and at the time of Josiah, God was still not happy because of another king of Israel. It was not that God did not honor Josiah through out his life time as king, but the wrath of God was still there against the country that had forsaken Him. God did not destroy any generation that sought Him. Even with Josiah getting rid of the pagan idols and idolaters and false teachers and sodomites of his day, it was not enough.. Perhaps it was thought the king heart was turned the people were people following their leaders with no true heart towards God. Our leaders might have a heart toward God and it may be enough to cause a nation to act on the faith of our leaders in practice, but unless there is repentance throughout the land the leader is really surrounded by the enemy. Yet how the people of God must have been happy during the time of Josiah to see the pagans destroyed. Yet even they understood destruction would come to Israel if the people rejected God once more. Our own delight in God’s ways might not stop God’s impeding wrath from coming to the world, but if the world that repents might hold back for a time the wrath of God if they diligently seek Him. God desire is to teach all people his ways his laws. The spiritual laws of faith. Law of faith that supercedes all other laws. Laws that demanded God to show mercy in the time of Josiah and even today. Josiah a king influenced and taught by a woman that taught the men to teach the king. A woman’s godly influence to the king of the law of God. Yet she took little recognition of the task God had laid out for her. Instead she did her work for the Lord. Influenced by the Spirit of God has prophetess of the most High God. If we delight in the ways of God and humble ourselves to God, God will save us. Salvation was and is provided by the grace of God through His Son Jesus. These Psalms of old speak of how God even back before the time of Christ spoke to the heart of man. He still does today. No more sacrifices need because Jesus is the Lamb of God, but in Josiah day the sacrifices and cleansing of the temple had to be performed. Josiah orders were not necessarily loved by the people, but they were obeyed. Dear Heavenly Father remind us that your word is true and those that delight in your word and are convicted by it, will have the hope of salvation through the Messiah Jesus Christ. That our protection from you in time of trouble is seen with our obedience to you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
