The Shroud of Turn is said to be the cloth that covered Christ in the tomb. No one is for certain this is the shroud but it fit’s the man called Christ in the way the stains are on the fabric. The markings the same as those on the description of Jesus. The shroud is thought to provide miracles. Yet no one is really allowed to see or touch the garment or cloth that once cover the resurrect Messiah. The clothes of Christ bid and divided by casting lots or bidding for the best piece. Yet one has to ask would you want it with the stains of blood upon it. The ripping apart of the fabric with the beating or was Christ completely nude when he was beaten and nailed to the cross. They put a robe on him it is said and mocked him as king. Even pulling the hair of his beard before beating Him.
As a minister began to preach at one of those revival like services, the word of God flowing from his lips, the people began to bid on the word of God. An Amen here and Amen there and in unison an Amen there as the word of God continued to flow out into the crowd. The faster the minister preached, the louder the crowd got, and the more the crowd appeared to receive the Word of God with each bid of the Amen corner. Amen corner already deciding what they would take to heart concerning what was said from the pulpit, like the bidding o an auction. Some only dining on certain phrases and others consuming the whole message. Each wanting to part the raiment of the message provided by the Holy Spirit to the minister. Each parting what they knew to be true for even themselves. Each person taking the covering of the Word of God over the church. All willing to bid on the sermon took a part home with them that night, especially if they reached the altar of prayer, receiving whatever the Spirit continue to give freely to the heart and mind of those that believed. Not one person walked away from that auction empty, but full of what they came to bid on.
The crucifixion much like the time of the gladiators of Rome was a feeding ground to all that took in the horror of the situation of the crucifixion. Today the imagery of the crucifixion still acted out to explain the impossible situation Jesus was in of ever being rescued or saved out of the situation. Only on the third day after his resurrection is His victory realized. Each soldier standing by as the earth began to quake with the death of Jesus. One soldier even crying out Jesus must be the Son of God, yet it was to late that garment already purchased that said they had divided his garment. The soldiers getting what they bid on, each with a peace to remember the event. Each with a piece to say I was here when they crucified the Son of God. Not knowing of the shouting fest of the resurrection. Each taking from a popular man a piece of all he had. The price of thirty coins given to the betrayer and the price of the pieces of Christ garment given to the soldiers who took time to crucify him. Paying those that crucified him with all He had. He paid for the cruel mocking, He paid for the beating, and He paid for the nail scarred hands. Yet we nail Jesus to the cross with our sins. Our sin causing the very reason He had to suffer and die. The price paid by selling of information to entrap and the price of the only thing Jesus had. God paying the fee by allowing this to happen instead of allowing his wrath to pour out from the cross.
A minister is paid to sell the word of God, the more he knows how to work a crowd the more bids that come in to approve of what is said. He is paid by collection of the church and how will he divides the word across the stage. Yet all that receive the message of the cut up word across the pulpit have a piece of the puzzle to the Word of God. That piece that will stick with them in the week ahead hopefully, giving them life and healing for each week.
I can not help but wonder if each piece of the cloth brought healing, or sorrow to each soldier when the reality of who they just crucified hit them. Some soldiers would be told to deny it ever happened and others would testify of the crucified Lord.
Have you gone to the auction house for the bidding of the Word of God and the covering provided for all that will receive. The one piece of garment more value then all the rest. The salvation message of the cross of Jesus. Are you the one still nailing the nails in Jesus because you refuse to receive the portion lot for you. Keeping your money and refusing to omit your part in the auction.
Dear Heavenly Father may the auction house be filled with your Word and each person receiving what they need for the week and months ahead and not holding back and refusing their allotment of truth. In Jesus precious name, Amen
