Just to Touch His Clothing
3/05/2015

Daily Devotions:by turtle30c

Mark 5:25-34 KJV
(25) And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
(26) And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
(27) When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
(28) For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
(29) And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
(30) And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
(31) And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
(32) And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
(33) But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
(34) And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

The anointing of Jesus was so much that it penetrated even the very clothing he wore. The power of the Holy Spirit was not contained to a shell of the flesh of Jesus, but to his outward being and his clothes. The power of God so strong that people sough to touch just the garment of Jesus. There are records in Acts of the shadow of Peter and Paul passing over someone would cause healing. I can not help but think this was true of Jesus as well, but I can not remember an account of Jesus shadow in the New Testament passing over and healing happening. Yet when I think of all those Jesus healed, it was clear that some were healed by already believing the possibility through faith.

The woman in despite need of the relief from the plague in her life that had cause her blood flow to pour like a faucet that had not ended for over twelve years. She just wanted the illness to be over. And upon hearing the stories of healing and miracles she knew she only needed to get close enough to touch at the least the garment of Jesus. Why not talk to Him instead of sneaking to touch the garment. Perhaps it had to do with being consider unclean to be around the religious leaders during that time of the month for a woman. Priest did not even get around dead bodies or people will illnesses unless their profession was in the medical field. It was thought to make you unclean for service to God and so they did not get around certain people during their time of ministry duties. Jesus healed the lepers, and all sorts of illness. People that were thought to be unworthy of relief.

When that flow of healing power left Jesus’ body, He immediately knew and said who touched me. And inquiry in the crowd of who had touched Jesus was made. Yet the crowd was pressed around him. The woman came and fell trembling before Christ. Perhaps feeling unworthy to be made whole. Yet she knew she had been cleansed. Jesus with fatherly love for the woman calling her his daughter. His daughter because she believed and trust Jesus had the ability without her even asking but receiving the possibility with just the touch. She was a daughter in faith in Jesus. She was a daughter needing healing. A daughter with faith that it was not necessary to bother Jesus but just to touch him and go on and know it would be alright.

Sometimes the idea of just the human contact point of the reality of Jesus was all this daughter of the Messiah by faith needed. The contact point that all would be fine. Many stand in prayer lines not knowing what they will receive, hoping for the miracle cure, not even sure how to receive or believe and yet hoping perhaps they will feel or experience something divine. Never asking Jesus to help with their unbelief. The woman had no trouble believing or receiving healing for she took the stories she heard on faith. And God rewarded her by the virtue, or spiritual healing power that flowed from just the touch of the garment. Do you believe before you pray for miracle or only hope in the reality of the miracle? Do you believe before you reach the altar of prayer? Are you seeking because of faith, or are you looking for a miracle so that you might believe? How many miracles around you does it take for you to believe? How much faith does it take for you to receive the healing, even if it does not come today, but later down the road of faith?

Miracles do take more then faith, it takes more then acknowledgement of God, it takes receiving and taking what rightfully yours as a child of God. The woman’s healing came with faith, not with unbelief. Where is your faith today in Jesus. Do you believe He still has the power to heal? Have you asked for healing? Have you received your healing though for the moment all signs are nothing happening? Healing comes in many ways, some miraculous, some through the touch of God, some by faith, and some to help faith. Yet belief is part of the formula for healing. And just because Christ timing is not today does not mean it will not be tomorrow. The woman sought doctors, now she sought the one she knew could do miracles. Yet sometimes our infirmities are to teach us something in this life. Paul had much faith, yet he sought and prayed three times for thorn to be removed from his flesh, and no healing came. Yet he understood the possibility because of the miracles that he seen by the work of the Holy Spirit.

Ezekiel knew the reality of dead bones rising why you might ask, because of the miracles in his life and the protection of God that surrounded his life in troublesome times, yet he receive not yet the promise of his belief. If death was known to be tomorrow would you still have faith God could deliver you and if He does not it is for a purpose as well. Healing like life and death in this world is for purpose, one to strengthen faith and two to glorify God. Yet we receive not because we ask not. We receive not because of a lack of faith. We receive not because it not His timing. Each case different and yet all having simple reason for faith, receiving and reaching for the healing through faith. Is hearing the word claim your healing enough. Is the word of God over your life enough to receive the healing God has for you today? I can not answer for you. But I can tell you the story of healing to help you reach for the garment of Jesus upon faith. The word being the garment and believing and receiving healing on faith.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to reach out for healing on faith and belief in your word. The very essence that still covers the reality of who Jesus is. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
