Fasting For Deliverance

Esther 4:1-17 KJV
(1) When Mordecai perceived all that was done, Mordecai rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and a bitter cry;
(2) And came even before the king's gate: for none might enter into the king's gate clothed with sackcloth.
(3) And in every province, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.
(4) So Esther's maids and her chamberlains came and told it her. Then was the queen exceedingly grieved; and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his sackcloth from him: but he received it not.
(5) Then called Esther for Hatach, one of the king's chamberlains, whom he had appointed to attend upon her, and gave him a commandment to Mordecai, to know what it was, and why it was.
(6) So Hatach went forth to Mordecai unto the street of the city, which was before the king's gate.
(7) And Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him, and of the sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to the king's treasuries for the Jews, to destroy them.
(8) Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at Shushan to destroy them, to shew it unto Esther, and to declare it unto her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her people.
(9) And Hatach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.
(10) Again Esther spake unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai;
(11) All the king's servants, and the people of the king's provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.
(12) And they told to Mordecai Esther's words.
(13) Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews.
(14) For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
(15) Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,
(16) Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.
(17) So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.

Submitting to a king is not the same as worshipping a king in the since of bowing to him. In ancient days leaders were worship as a God in some cultures. The adviser of the king wanted to get rid of Esther’s Uncle Mordecai and the rest of the Jews that seem to cause him problems. The Jews were people that only bowed to God and would not worship the king. However it is clear they had no trouble obeying all laws except the one to bow to the king in worship. Haman knew the weakness of the Jews and knew they could be destroyed. The decree was made and the king agree upon it to destroy a people that would not bow in worship to him. King Nebuchadnezzar had not asked for his wife for over a month. He had been in committee meetings for some time concerning laws and legal affairs. When this occur strict orders was no one could come to the king unless he held his scepter out to them. Esther heard all that had fallen her people. Yet the king knew not her faith or beliefs or that this new law would effect the people of Israel. Esther was afraid to approach her husband and desired to obey the law of the land. Yet the law was against her people.

She declared a fast, and told the people to fast and prayer that God be with her when she approached the king. The Lord would deliver Esther and her people because the king loved his wife and the enemy Haman would be destroyed. Yet this all occurred in the book of Esther. The point I want to bring about, is this time of Christ of Isis killing Christians and Jews is not new. It has been going on for thousand and thousand of years. Islam sprung up after Christianity and Isis will kill anyone not in alliance with them. Some wonder why go to war against a people like Isis. It is not about religion. For them it is. Some religious people would say it is about religion, but for whom is it about religion. See even the atheist do not want Isis in power, because even they are killed for lack of belief. Anyone not in alliance with this group will be slaughtered. These kind of wars have been going on for centuries. They seem stupid to us who believe in freedom, yet it takes away that very freedom to all concerned.

Then I began to think is this not what Christianity teaches. Do not all the heathen die at the end of the story of Revelations and only the church remains. Yet it is God’s decision or suppose to be in Christianity. It is not decision made by Christians, yet there are Christian groups that would disagree. I am anger because when man decides to play God despite their religion it always means destroying someone or something. However one might consider the enemy that wants to destroy your ability to free think, is the enemy that will try and destroy the world. Is our true war against religion, or against those that would try and control and take freedom away from people who choose to live in peace despite there differences.

As a Christian, as a believer I ask some hard questions of you and of myself and of God. God’s laws are meant to protect society not to destroy them. Yet man uses God’s laws to destroy man. Yet these issues can not be resolved in a day unless the enemy choose to say I want that freedom of choice too and lay their arms aside. Those in harms way are sitting ducks. It is nearing the time of when Jesus died. Seldom do enemy release but choose to torment. Whether they Christians or Jew it matters not to Isis. There are extremist in all groups of society. It is called Nazism. Everyone must be like their neighbor. It is extremism.

If the law had not been in place to protect the innocent that approached the king in emergency, then Esther would of died when she broke the law to speak to the king. It would be nice if the enemy was such that you could approach them without fear of death and tell them your thoughts on their killing. Tell them no religious group will bow to any God in opposition to their God. No religious group will divide itself. Instead what we can best hope for is the putting aside of abusive tactics meant to teach individuals lessons, battery, and so forth. All we can do is hope that the love of God will shine in our hearts as believer in Christ enough our enemies in disagreement will either crossover the line and join us, or agree to disagree with us. Or we as a nation can blow the enemy with our bombs and ammunition up. We can pray for peace and ask for Christ to return, but it is still up to God. Isis celebrates there time of fasting around this time period that Christians and Jews do. It is honor to their God to kill the enemy. If our nation despite faith untie their politicians hands to complete resolve the issue then we will perhaps loose some soldiers at the price. If we tie our soldiers hands war will get worse. Because people that restrict your beliefs will effect everyone else.

Same trouble plague the time of King Nebuchadnezzar. It plagued every non believing government. It plagued every religious groups for centuries. Can we call the enemy to agree to disagree,, or do we destroy and wipe a culture and a people out. It be much easier if God would just settle the whole issue and one day He will. He will send His Son back and prove the reality of who He is. A forgiving God to all that will believe and a devil to all that do not. It is that simple.

Dear Heavenly Father help the enemy to lay down by the sheep, and enemy to realize the power and tools of their enemy. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
