Constant Battle

Daily Devotions: by turtle30c

Matthew 12:9-14 KJV
(9) And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:
(10) And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him,
saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
(11) And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one
sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it
out?
(12) How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on
the sabbath days.
(13) Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it
was restored whole, like as the other.
(14) Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy
him.

The constant battle of the believer against the enemy is no different then the time of
Christ. However the miracles of healing is not seen as in the days of Christ. After all
Jesus was Lord, but something are not accomplished without prayer and fasting Jesus had
told the disciples in I think it was Matthew if you are wanting to look it up. However in
this story this was a healing done by Jesus, the master of healing. He spoke and it was
done. There was no question of if or when it would happen, it would be done. Jesus
authority in healing was beyond anything we see in today’s world. Everything is in
accordance to the word of God and his timing. And his timing of healing was at the time
of Christ. Yet Christ meet obstacles just like you I will against religious leaders that are
not convinced of the miracle works of God. This man hand was withered and why did the
religious leaders get upset that the hand was made whole, because they seen their income
go out the window. Some of them were doctors, lawyers and teachers. The Pharisees were
religious and legal zealots of the day. They seen lawsuits go and medical team go out the
window for a hand that had been deformed healed.

Yet Jesus spoke to the religious leaders as if they were equal and he wanted to know if
they had sheep fall in a hole on the Sabbath would they help it out of the hole. And of
course they knew they would for they had on more then one occasion had that trouble of
wandering sheep. Work on the Sabbath was against religious law, yet the law of helping a
sheep was consider more important then healing of a human, Jesus wanted to know. If
you had the power to heal would you heal. Of course you would. Yet this still angered the
leaders, who was this young whipper snapper doing healing and breaking the law the
Pharisees thought. And so they began to plot against Jesus. This plot would continue
throughout Jesus earthly ministry. So it is today the enemy would love to destroy any
minister and any believer if they can, just because they disagree with them. So the battle
has not changed, but our power is limited by the will of God. And if we act not in
accordance to His will, miracles will not happen. God protection is not guaranteed. We
can not act on our own compassion but on the will of God. God’s will is all be saved and
all be healed but it will not happen until Christ return. Beware of those that will try and
trap and ensnare you because you do your best to obey God. Jesus had the authority, our
authority comes by the Holy Spirit but it is according to His will and timing.

Dear Heavenly Father keep us in tuned to the dinner feast against the enemy, a time of
praising for the miracles and changes in the lives of ourselves and others. Yet keep us in
mind always of who is in control of these wonders. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
