Called To Leave

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Genesis 2:21-25 KJV
(21) And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
(22) And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
(23) And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
(24) Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
(25) And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Adam and Eve became one flesh; they left not their Creator but would be forced to leave from their Creatorís house. Adam was from the earth, and Eve was from Adam created in Garden of Eden. A bold statement to claim that the truth of prophesy of what God spoke to Adam and his wife becoming one flesh and leaving his mother and father. Had Adam realized he now had two masters? One being God and the other being woman. Woman created in a world paradise, but not from material of paradise beyond the breath of God.

Every child will leave the nest at some point in life to pursue life and liberty, or forced by parents death into nursing facility or other caregiver because of a disability. No one can imagine the struggle of being forced or freely leaving will have on the one leaving the nest, the parents or caregiver left behind. By God creating woman he created a new being for Adam to love, and obey, as well as for Eve to love and obey Adam. Rules of man upon the woman because she was his helpmate, created for him, by God. Do we force our rules or ideas on someone else? How do those rules effect someone else might effect them for eternity.

God called his children to marry to be one. It was in their nature to be one. Yet they had a need to follow Godís instruction. Godís instruction offered protection, the devil that would tempt Eve offered death. One can only imagine the cost of loosing a home. God promises us a new heaven and a new earth when Christ returns. The old gone the new becomes. Man is from the earth and will be in the New Jerusalem upon the earth, coming down from the sky if one has faith in God and His Son. Our old home passing away and a new home coming. I can get good picture of this by remembering the tearing of old house to the building of a five-room house. It is like the tearing of old buildings to build new ones. In the New Jerusalem paradise will be as the Garden of Eden. Yet in the New Jerusalem there will be fruit trees for healing and not death. Fruit trees to make our nations and people whole, for Jesus himself will wipe the tears from our eyes. No more being forced from Godís presence, but embraced in His light. No more darkness to encompass for the light is always on.

How the lamppost shines in the night to say come on home. Only inside the house is their light beyond the lamppost outside the house. God is leaving the light on for his children so they can find his house. We might cleave to our spouse but our need to know and have God in our life is great upon the world. Christ light is shining on the path to the door of the house, will you enter in. Cleaving to oneís spouse is Godís call on man, but obedience to God was the first call on man. Will you obey God cleaving to your spouse? Or will each otherís likes and dislikes affect your obedience to God? Our call to leave our parents is a call from God and not a call from man. Hardest decision we make as children of our family, yet it is a call of God.

Dear Heavenly Father has couples choose each other for life may they find listening to their partners good, but obeying you in life better. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
