Walking In Truth

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

3 John 1:1-8 KJV
(1) The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
(2) Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
(3) For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.
(4) I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
(5) Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;
(6) Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:
(7) Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
(8) We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.

It been difficult this month to write not having a direct theme in which to write or know exactly the direction I am going. It like walking with a blind fold on and saying Lord which way now. Life is much like that when we trust God some paths easily lit up with light all around and other times it walking through the darkness being the one carrying the light. What ever the case you can trust in Godís truth and righteousness to carry you through.

John probably never had any children, some thought he had married perhaps and had children, but in truth it probably reference to a church and to the people within the church. The desire of any church leader should be that their children walk in truth and do not lie. In fact they walk in the humbleness of our Lord doing the work He has called them too. A church can not prosper without taken in the gentiles of this world and feeding the truth of scripture. To teach that they might too believe the truth about Jesus. Truth of who God is and the Holy Spirit. To have compassion for people beyond our nature core to ignore them is act of Godís grace. In some places one goes one never feels that they are a stranger but they come home. Church should be a place any believer should be coming home even if it is not their home church. It should be like a breath of fresh air greeting them with the love of God. The spirit of God often speaks for the believer of who child they are, if we ask God. Yet those that are not Godís children the church needs to show the same love and mercy speaking in truth and not wise tales to deceive. People desire truth. When one walks in truth then the light of God shines forth and people see Jesus in us.

Johnís friend that reported back on how the church was doing spoke well on the love of the church and the people within. Speaking of how they spoke in truth and demonstrated the love of God towards him, though he was a stranger to them. It all spoke well of the church that John wrote to encourage the church to continue on in faith, truth and love. To be encourage because of the witness of their faithfulness that he received for they were like his own children at least in the faith.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to grow in truth and faith following in the truth of your Son Jesus. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
