1 And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.
2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
4 But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching I love the innocents of childhood, where one think everyone is the same or the same as you, raised up with the same love, hope and forgiveness in place. As a child one thinks everyone knows who Jesus is and what he did for them. In child like innocents the story of Christ is shared with strangers, never understand some people never heard or grew up knowing Jesus. Don't you love children that just sing Jesus loves me in a crowd that does not know Jesus, or might not know Jesus. It is the innocents of faith, that alarms parents, pastors, and even teachers at times, to say hush now, not understanding the joy a young child has singing for Jesus. Some whispering how unappropiate it is to singing Jesus loves me, who is this Jesus, and why should he love you? The struggles of the innocent and the persecuted of the unbelievers is not understanding who Christ is, because they desire not to know him beyond that kid is running down the street to play with his cousins or friends.
Why did so many not believe who Jesus was? One his hometown Nazareth of Galilee was made up of both Gentiles and Jews. Jews would of not necessarily believe the story of Jesus birth and those that did had faith. Those that were Gentiles might be believers but others would of been not understanding what faith this man had, because he was not a priest or rabbi in the synagogue only a man teaching on the streets and in the synagogue occasionally. Anyway the surprise would come with the surprise of this once a boy now a man not teaching as if he was will versed in hears the scriptures as perhaps elderly priest with wisdom and authority to do so. Jesus was just a young man not experienced in life beyond 33 years of life. Some only knowing him a far off and others knowing because they lived beside and worked with him. He was a son of a carpenter, not seeming more ordinary then a boy growing into a man, so how did he gain some confidence and wisdom concerning scripture, that other men his age did not possesses. Jesus laid hands on those that believe to help the unbelieving, and healed a few. He continue teaching within the village, scripture taught in the synagogue and parables. They might accept him as a teacher, but not as a prophet.
We want to think everyone received Christ in Scripture but it not so. Lack of faith brings about lack of healing, and faith that Jesus is able to do more then we in vision. Yet because we lack faith Jesus power can not move among the people. Without faith we can not see the work of God in the lives of others or ourselves. Without faith we can have hope of a better tomorrow. Without faith we lack hope. Yet hope will still come and miracles will still happen around us, but not to those without faith, beyond seeing the return of Christ.
When the rubix cube went out of style, I wonder if i ever find a new puzzle like it or even see it once more. Stranger then fiction I seen rubix cube maybe not made by the company in the dollar store for a dollar. Several years after the fad i still occasionally seen unusual puzzles still producing but not in quantity, but hopefully in quality. I look around and ask is faith a fad for some, yet, they hear and they believe for a time only to fall away because miracles and things seem to exist around them, yet for believer miracles still exist maybe not in quanity but in quality. Any miracle of healing of someone being able to walk, or illness disappearing without the solution or aid coming from the medical team, because what they tried came back with no evidence of success, and one prayer God does a miracle of unusual proportions of healing. Those who believe in God's power praise God knowing there will be those that will believe because they seen the person healed and deliver. There people that is hearing the teaching of Jesus are heal and deliver.
Those young children that speak, speak the praises of God speak the words of God knowing not how those seeds of faith land, but God knows what he is doing, so leave them alone, and allow God to minister to the lost and dying the world, because the adults are to afraid to sing. It takes faith to share, that God not going to allow his word to come back void, but we have to realize it not always over night that a response of faith is given. Give that seed of faith and word of faith/seed to grow in the hearts of individuals. People in his home town were listening to those things Jesus taught but were amazed who was teaching. Let us not be people that turn away with itching ears that only want the latest fad in faith, not realizing faith begans with belief in who Christ, God and Holy Spirit is.
Dear Heavenly Father move int he hearts of the believer to declare your wonders, miracles and healing power to the world. Help us to declare your word as innocents of faith do that we see in children of faithful. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study:2 Timothy 4:1-9 KJV
1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
9 Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:
