Reach Out

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Mark 5:25-34 KJV
25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

In this day and age many people are learning to reach out for help from different sources, from government, organization and not least even churches. When and I think of what out there and what also is unavailable, because groups fail to see the resource as tangible resource to help people in need, instead they cover it and say oh we need it for the building fund, or the different groups retreat, only to fail to see the value of the resource at hand and know that more can be done to aid the needy right now. Something are more important then others. And something are less important. Yet it is not up to anyone or group to solve all the issues of the people right now. What is happening is that people are having to learn to search for resources that they never knew was available in the area to help them in this time of crisis, from soup kitchen, food panty, financial aid for certain bills, and not others. Trying to maintain their loans, their apartments and housing. It is a continual crisis and the once demand was not as full as it is now. What it all means is people will be left out of certain aid and be on the streets, because of high demand. What can these people do besides live on the streets, public housing, shelters, leaving access in their homes behind. Some can afford the storage shed and not the hotel room, or a tent. What happens they find themselves in Joseph and Mary places seeking shelter and finding no room at the inn, and in this day and age no room in a stable either. Yet our country has many abandon buildings that is better shelter then outdoors. If nothing else they can be fixed by those in need of a place to stay to help owners, if owners would see the advantage of just basic repair of a board or too and plumbing with unresellable pipe. Point property has to be care for and those with run down building in need of repairs for safety or to be demolished.

Why are we living in a day and age when the world is looking at the streets as a place to live and not being given the hope of a tomorrow. Yet it is the future of many in the next few months as we head toward winter, no one worries in summer of the effects of outdoor living. Can building codes in abandon buildings be drop for a few months to provide for those in need. Can a code be in place to protect landowner of lawsuits of any injury because of such a building, til repairs are made. I look at the need of people and see something happened in our world, common sense or stupidity comes to mine.

Here the thing the story today is on a woman in need of a miracle and she been to a physician, and then another and another seeking medical solution to her heavy bleeding. Now what was she going to do there seem to be no cure, and walking by her is this man that is said to be a miracle worker, his name is Jesus. She knows immediately in her heart if she can just touch the hem of his garment she would be healed. She just witness the synagogue ruler asking Jesus to come heal his daughter. She would not trouble Jesus with her need she just reach out and receive healing by grabbing hold of the hem of Jesus' garment, that should work. Immediately the woman is made whole, only to not know Jesus would feel the virtue of healing power leave his own body. When he felt it, he asked who touch me. Who took from me without asking.

People moving into abandon building without permission is taking something not theirs and can not dress up the building. They are steeling without seeing that their need might of been meet if a request could of been made to the right person. This woman with issue of blood did not ask but when she realize she could not go unnoticed she confessed. Jesus says your faith has made you whole go in peace. Point she took with faith, and continue to receive because of faith, not because of unbelief. Sometimes we need more faith. Sometime we need to ask, and sometimes we have to move forward in faith believing in God's provision, even when we fail to ask. I am not talking about stealing but exercising ones faith to reach out and touch the hem of the garment. To reach out to the solution in one's life, first solution is believing Christ will provide, and next being whatever it is that will solve the problem, obeying the law of our land at the same time.

This woman had a medical issue, Jesus was her healer because she believed he could and would. Jesus wanted her to know that her faith had healed her. That it was truly not only her faith, but his power to heal. Sometimes we look at life difficult situations and see no hope, and then God provides a solution. I found myself once in need of shelter and God open door for apartment, and I had little money, and no food. God provided both. Every situation is different, and not all situations are the same. God knows the need of food, clothing, shelter, and even healing. Sometimes we have to take the first step and reach out and grab hold. Then we see we did and realize it was Jesus. We grabbed his garment for our own healing, for our wellness. For our own survival. We may do something to achieve a goaled in our life, but God is our provider of these things we need. It begins with a grain of wheat or the animal that is killed for our food, to the wood or material to make brick that God supplied man to use to build. It begins with God orignal material and put right in our path to use. It called resources of God, Godly resources that without God we would not have the things we have.

Can we begin by reaching out in faith, believing in God's provision? Are we going to walk in fear and not faith, never reaching out to the only that is guaranteed to work in our life. First Jesus, then reaching out to find a solution, as simple as the hem of the garment. The inn might be full but the barn is available, the open door maybe using our ability God has provided us with or the help from others that is availabe. Don't fear reaching out, but do so in faith.

Dear Heavenly Father, grant us our daily need, but teach us to reach out in faith touching our salvation and grabbing hold as if we are touching the hem of Christ garment in faith. Reach up and out in faith for our healing. We receive your healing and provision today. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Philippians 3:7-15 KJV
7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
