Daily Devotions:

Mark 5:22-23 KJV
22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

Mark 5:35-43 KJV
35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
43 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

Faith stretcher in our life is the impossible becoming a reality in our own life. I have in my life time face uncertainity of tomorrow, not knowing if health would hold or if I would die. I faced seeing would the reality of the situation allow me to live. I even been in enough pain in my life to say Lord either remove it or take me home. And most will say your middle age, so a life time of events have occured for you. Some my age seem to walk a simple road and never have any major trouble that not common to all of us. It those life events that only happen to only a few million or a few dozen that makes us a little set back. What I mean if you look at the ratio of people in our country across our land have experienced sometime of life altering events. Now some life altering events changes us very little except changes our daily life. It either changes it for the good or for the bad. I can give a reason to believe a little more or a little less depending on the situation. Yet there is still those situations that beyond comprehension that takes place. It is those things that perhaps changes our lives more then anything else.

The first few funerals I had to deal with in my married life, reality of death probably came a little to real for me. It not that my own family had not had a funerals, these were people I had only recently met since becoming married and it left me with the feeling death was some how very unpredictable and even cruel at times, for some were not very old when they died. It made me have to deal with my own mortality. Cov-19 has certainly made many people have to face the reality of their own mortality, but has it really changed any of us. Life happens and we go on. Never thinking anymore about the situation.

Today lesson is on a a girl that dies and is raised back to life. Her father comes to Jesus asking for him to make his little girl whole, she is about to die, if Jesus does not come and do a miracle. How often we pray in a hurry asking Jesus to hurry and do a miracle, and Jesus' miracle is sometimes slow and sometimes quick, but there always right on time. Jesus was surrounded by constant crowd. but this was ruler of the synagogue household in need of a miracle. Why did not the ruler of the synagogue seek God himself? Maybe had had and maybe few without hope. Maybe that why at the very last few hours/minutes this ruler came and said Jesus come because maybe he heard he was near by.

In Christ has worn the antichrist can do miracles. Yet some of the rulers of the synagogue believe Jesus might be the Messiah. Testimony of synagogue ruler would never change Jesus impeding fate. But it would change the heart and mind of the ruler of the synagogue to believe and not to lack faith. Jesus as he came close to the house, the ruler of the synagogue people came out and said his daughter was dead don't trouble Jesus anymore. Yet Jesus said no she not dead but asleep. And he went in and closed the door and raised the synagogue daughter back to life. They were astonished and Jesus told them not to tell a soul.

This event was not unusual for even prophets of Israel raised the dead like Elijah raising the Shumanite boy back to life. The difference in Elijah a prophet raising the dead and Jesus, is that Jesus could take the credit for the raising of the dead for he had the power to do, Elijah only could do was pray to the Lord for aid in the matter. Jesus command the dead girl to rise up and for her to be feed food to confirm she was alive. Evidence she was living breathing person and not a ghost. Jesus even ate after his own resurrection.

What the point unusual events at the words of Jesus was not so unusual in the land of Israel. Yet it been many years since this type of miracle had taken place. Was this proof to the ruler of the synagogue and his family? Perhaps the answer is yes. Sometimes those miracles at the answer to prayer is enough awareness of the power of Jesus in our life, sometimes it takes us reminding ourselves of the work of God that all things are possible. Yet why do we not see more cases today, and my question how many people lived that were sick with cov-19. That is the miracle in our country today. Yes some died, but those that lived know God mercy and healing power, whether they recognize it or not. Some died because it was there time to go. God's healing sometimes is on the other side of eternity and not this side.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to hold to our faith despite the situation, knowing God's healing hand still has power today. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: James 5:13-20 KJV
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
