Nothing Is Impossible For God 7/23/2020
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisGenesis 18:1-15 KJV
1 And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
2 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,
3 And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:
4 Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:
5 And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.
6 And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth.
7 And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it.
8 And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.
9 And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent.
10 And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.
11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.
12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?
13 And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?
14 Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.
15 Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh.
The Lord walked on the earth and talked to Abraham. This story seems hard to believe until one knows the promise had been given to Abraham for many years that Sarah, his wife would have a baby. She was old and past child bearing when the Lord came to sit and chat with Abraham.. Then Sarah handmaiden had conceived and given birth but this was not the offspring Lord told Abraham about. Isaac would be the second son of Abraham and first born by his wife Sarah a woman past child bearing years and past time of desiring her husband companionship in the manner of husband and wife. Abraham and Sarah were not even sleeping together at the time, when this announcement took place in the presents of Sarah. Sarah laughed at this news, and the Lord asked is there anything to hard for me. He would return and she would have a son. Abraham knew Sarah was old but she would conceive a child in old age.
What would be impossible for God? There is nothing impossible for God. Yet we can only imagine how it must sounded silly to Abrahama nd Sarah who cared for their flock. They knew where babies came from, they understood Sarah was to old and God says it is possible because I said so. If God says so then it is so. Who has that kind of faith. Sarah did not and no doubt when Abraham approached her to be has man and wife, Sarah could not help but wonder or at least ask is it possible.
When we think of God's possibility we got to realize in our understanding it not possible from what we know sometimes. If God speaks to your heart and you know it is God and you do not believe it is possible don't be surprised to learn it will come to be and come to pass. Don't think Sarah feeling that child growing within her and feeling that baby kick, if that did not waken her to the truth of God's word nothing ever would. We know Sarah doubted because she gave her handmaiden to Abraham to bear a child for him. Because Sarah gave Abraham her handmaiden even Abraham had doubts of the reality of the words spoken from God, though he found the promise land God had promised him.
Sometimes we can not imagine all God is going to do, not even when He has already fullfilled some things in our life that larger then ourselves. However maybe he had not done some great work in your life beyond salvation yet and so you wonder what could be impossible for you to imagine God fulfilling in your life time. One would be the return of Christ alone would be one greatest joys a believer would be glad to a partaker of from seeing Christ part those eastern skies. If we learn to trust in God and in Christ both flesh and/word, we can learn first hand his promises are true. We can learn the hope of faith in Christ. For Christ was a promise back even before the time of Abraham. Not fully understood or realized, but a promise that would come.
God promises us love, hope, joy and much more through the gift of the Holy Spirit upon belief in Jesus. Is there more for you, as a believer. Consider this if you believe in the God can heal, when no drug is available to cure, can believe on can survive impossible deadly accident, can believe God is in control of what you need even before ask. Then the God of Bible is still alive and will, doing the impossible in the believers life, even through foreknowledge given to the believer by God's Spirit. Our only thing we can do is trust in our living God, that all things are possible to those that believe and even to some that lack faith and doubt at times. Learn to take Jesus at his word. Learn to embrace the personal journey God has for you through faith in Christ Jesus.
Dear Heavenly Father, move the mountains of impossibility and make your promise real and amen to all that believe, so we learn to walk by faith and not by sight for your honor and glory. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
