The Shield Of Faith
7/20/2015

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Ephesians 6:16-17 KJV
(16) Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
(17) And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

A member of the church I attend brought an interesting photo to the church last night of a moth with wings folded looked like a cross. Did some research this morning found little information about this moth. Most moths I seen has little dots on their wings or nothing at all. However I don’t get out much to where I am observer of moths in general so what in this region I live in it might not be so unusual. Yet the thought came to mind what was it before it became a moth. Did it eat vegetables, or other plants before it became a moth. Was it destructive. Get a moth around wool and see how long your sweater last. Yet despite the destructive nature of the moth God has bless this particular moth with the symbol of a cross on its wings.

How we take an eat the bread God offers us by receiving of the bread of life which is Jesus. The moth eats the wool a product of lamb. Yet we eat the wool that minister spin in each sermon but unless we take the Lamb on faith our faith has no shield or armor. Jesus is our shield of faith. God’s word who is Christ in the flesh is the Spirit of God in the flesh. A form destructible but can not be destroyed in Spirit and word form. In other words people are destructible but the shield of faith is a shield beyond here and now in the flesh. It is a shield for eternal life with God and Christ Jesus. Our soul marked by the Holy Spirit who writes God’s word on our hearts, much like the moth with cross it markings looks like a shield of faith. The shield of faith one carries even if one does not have their Bible with them. They carry their shield of faith in their heart that may or may not be displayed physically in some way. True faith can be tested and pushed to its limits but Jesus and God will never fail the believer.

Dear Heavenly Father you word of is so precious to me. Jesus cross he bore for my sins to give me hope through the cross and remind me how important it is to keep the faith and allow your word to cover me and to seal me. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
