The Blessing of Believing In An Intercessor
7/15/2015

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

1 John 2:1-5 KJV
(1) My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
(2) And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
(3) And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
(4) He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
(5) But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

An intercessor or advocate another word for a lawyer before God in this case. We need advocator because of our sin debit we owe to God. We all fall in unbelief, we all fall in disobedience to God’s Holy Word. If the wages of sin is death, and Christ paid for our sins, how come people die? The answer of who gets into heaven and who does not seems to be a question seems to be a reoccurring theme in scripture, yet little is said but that wrong is paid for by Christ if you believe and you get to go to heaven when you die. Yet the word also goes on to day your belief is not enough. Action of faith is necessary as well. Yet action without faith is dead. The hope and payment is for the next life. Next life is not really a good term. Because though our life is over on earth we continue in heaven with God and Christ if we are believers. If we do not believe the hope is not there and we are cast out of heaven to a place called hell and then when the second resurrection comes we cast into the eternal lake of fire. Choosing unbelief in God is deadly torment to come. Choosing to believe is victory over death. Many people can grasp the concept of hell easier then the concept of heaven. They even been through what some would call hell on earth. Yet the concept of a loving God is based on faith. Something grasped by understanding that some cares even when we are in the gutter of life or earthly torment.

How many people care about another but there hands are tied because of who there boss or company is. The policy of their company designed to hurt or revenge the consumer. Yet in their opinion they are adjusting cost for their business. God not including anyone that has no ability to imagine a place of paradise after sin is paid for. The only way sin is paid for is through the promise of the Christ of Jesus who had victory over death. Victory for death did not hold him in the grave but He arose again to life victorious. Yet He should us he was alive for forty days has he walked upon the earth in human form, yet in incorruptible flesh. His body already descended to the Father and the eternal body given to him to show the believers that He was alive forever more upon the earth. He showed the disciples that he would live forever in heaven by ascended again into heaven by a cloud. Something visible and something attainable for even Elisha ascended into heaven in a chariot into heaven. Enoch walked with God and the people before Noah knew that He was translated into heaven. Three Biblical accounts of eternal life, and only one died by paying for the sins of the whole world. Walking by faith only three accounts of ascent to heaven, yet only one faced death, giving hope to all that would die before Christ returned of a place called heaven.

With faith in God came a responsibility to obey God. The devil only chooses to disobey God or obey God for his benefit. He will act good to get a dollar, or be kind to a stranger for the world to see to get taken care of in old age. Yet the believer does things to honor God and to do the will of God in his life and others. The motivation is heaven, or the relationship with God? Hopefully is the relationship of knowing Jesus as Savior that keeps a person intrigued in faith. For God shows His people His ways and shows them His ways are not of men. Communication with God is important. It not that God is lonely, but He desires us to know Him and His blessings. His blessings that come because of reward and non reward. Blessing coming through trials and tribulation and not just sunny days. Blessings of knowing what God has provided and can take away as well as restore. God comfort in the hardships of life or His blessings in the middle of the storms. Blessings on good days are easy to see, but harder when the wind and waves are rolling toward you. Yet Jesus says keep your eyes on me. He says follow me. I teach you the ways of God. You will know the power of the God, His judgment, and His mercy.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to be overcomers and believers in faith in Christ Jesus who gives us a lively hope through faith. In Him and You. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
