Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Mark 9:2-13 KJV
2 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.
3 And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.
4 And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.
5 And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
6 For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid.
7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
8 And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.
9 And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead.
10 And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean.
11 And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elias must first come?
12 And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought. 13 But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him.

The ability of Jesus to transfigure before them, meaning to put on his kingly heavenly appearance for them in the presence of the two guest Moses and Elijah. Jesus clothing becameing exceeding white as snow, purified cleaner then any tide, or cheer soap could do. Fuller soap the washing soap, or laundry people of the day. In others words not even bleach could make it this white. The color of the garment being so purified before the disciples(Peter, James and John). Such a brillance and then Elijah and Moses appeared even startling them. The disciples Peter then ask is it good for us to be here. What was Peter thinking. Is entitlement as a disciple of Jesus, did he think he had gone to heaven gone to secret meeting of heavenly beings. No telling if disciples clothes had changed in any, it does not say. The purity of the moment before the elders of heaven upon the earth in the day of Peter, James and John would be known to no one else until after Christ death and resurrection. The three key disciples ever seeing but not perceiving or receiving the meaning of all they saw and heard.

What does it mean for Elias(greek for Elijah) to restore. Elijah killed or destroyed the prophets of Baal. Jesus had to destroy the enemy before the lawgiver of God could come. Moses seen as the lawgiver, as the Holy Spirit being the writer of the law on the heart of every believer. If true healing going to come to our world we must first see devil put down and the laws of God restored in the heart of man. What does that mean as every believer says yes to Christ to be Lord and Savior of there life, the devil gets a black eye. A piece of Devil's kingdom is destroyed with each convert to Christ. Destruction of the enemy must first begin with Christ death and resurrection, but does not end there until all believe in Jesus. All receive the Holy Spirit's rules for daily living to walk after his Spirit and not to fulfill the desires of the flesh.

God speaks and the voice of God is heard by the disciples, and God said, "this is my son, hear him". It is very clear that God said to listen to Jesus. Jesus tells them to tell no man until he be risen from the dead, and disciples began to question among themselves what rising from the dead should mean. How many of us would question it as something is foretold, we do not understand or our mind can not quit wrap around the meaning of the words, ever hearing but never perceiving the cross Jesus would soon to carry.

Elias must come first was a puzzle to them, but even more so because Jesus said it already had been done to him all according to scripture. How could Elijah had already been. The forerunner of Christ is who Elias is, that is being spoken of here. For John came filled from birth by the Holy Spirit. He came preaching repentance, baptism and the Kingdom of heaven. Jesus came preaching the same, but also resurrection. Elijah was not crucified but taken up into heaven in a fiery chariot soon after victory over Baal. Jesus first had to destroy the enemies of his day and be taken up to heaven. How with his resurrection the enemy could not stand, because of victory over death. Who is Elijah but the prophets that come to destroy the enemy. Who is Jesus the one that comes to destroy the enemy over death. Two enemies and yet they are one of baal. One is false prophets/teachers, and the other is the one that continue to rise up to destroy which is baal/devil. Jesus came to destroy the power of the devil at the root and head of the issue, of man obedience to the enemy by obeying temptation and not God.

Being a child of God means we can no longer disobey God in regards to unbelief. Our actions may not always line up to the ways of God, but our heart can not act in unbelief. Once we acknowledge our sin, once we decide Christ is going to rule and once we choose to fully yield to him over sin, then the devil can not win. What if we backslide, the devil still will not win, because when God's through allowing you to fall, he is going to pick you up restore you and you will be done with backslidding. God gets you out of his woodshed of correction you will be saying I never want to go through that again. If you are slipping and falling now, beware the lawgiver the Holy Spirit will be sending you the the school of correction.

God mercy is great but so is his correction, because with correction comes full restoration. Not a partial restoration a full restoration. Christ is standing in full restoration to his heavenly kingdom before the disciples when he talks to Moses and Elijah. Our idea of God restoration only coming once to mankind is short lived. If we read God's word from begining to end, we understand God is restoring his kingdom for each generation. Any preacher of righteousness is a restoration worker, but there is only one Messiah, One Lord, one faith. There is only one heavenly Father, one Savior(father of us all) and one Holy Spirit abiding as one and yet in three person's clearly seen. John baptist was a kingdom restoration worker, but not the Messiah or God. Jesus was restoration worker, but also God and Messiah, and Son of God, the word of God, the prince of peace, his relationship to the Father as God's Holy Word but yet separate as Son of God and His word being equal or same as God. Fully separate yet the same. God's kingdom coming with restoration of who he is to the world.

Yes we can keep sinning and not turn to God, but I guarantee at some point either in hell, or on this earth you will want to turn from sin, and if you are in hell it is to late and if you are on earth you only need to bow to the Lord above and repent of your sins and ask Jesus into your heart. Holy Spirit will seal you as his child. Has you yield to his word and Spirit you learn to walk in the ways of God. Instead of keeping Christ on the cross allow the reason for the resurrection come, through your actions and obedience to his will. When God's people leave Christ to remain on the cross they are not allowing him to arise in the resurrection of new life. Disciples were fixing to understand the meaning of his through the story of the cross. As we continue on the disciples will understand in the end the meaning of Christ death and resurrection.

Dear Heavenly Father your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those that trespass against us. Restore your Kingdom in the heart of man, as we wait on Christ return. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Acts 1:6-11 KJV
6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Galatians 6:1-18 KJV
1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
5 For every man shall bear his own burden.
6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
11 Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand.
12 As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.
13 For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.
14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.
17 From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.
18 Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
