14 And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.
15 Others said, That it is Elias. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.
16 But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.
17 For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her.
18 For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.
19 Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:
20 For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
21 And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee;
22 And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.
23 And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.
24 And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.
25 And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.
26 And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.
27 And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,
28 And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it to her mother.
29 And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.
30 And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. 32 And they departed into a desert place by ship privately. The power to please is a dangerous power of its own. As I watch today the auguration of President Biden and Vice President Harris, I am wondering what will they do while in power. How many times will they appease the crowd instead of doing what is right in the eyes of God. How do I know they will not always do the will of God, will one they still support abortion of babies. The killing of human life in the form of infant yet born, and some states even support death of infant once born. Yet there is things the democrats do right and those things will be seen in the time to come. Each candidate is different and each has their own agenda for being there. Yet the hope is that our country is not ruled by angry dicators but leaders of freedom.
Let's talk about the allowing of abortion for non medical reason, it is a danger to society and to woman, yet no one in the democrat society seems to care about a life yet born. King Herod would fit in the Democratic world for that one reason. He had no regard to what God thought on the issue of beheading a prophet/teacher John The Baptist. He had no respect for a Holy God, only the peace with Herodias the x wife apparently of King Herod brother, and now lover and wife of King Herod, whose daughter asked for the beheading of John the Baptist for her role in entertainment for a dinner party he had by dancing. King Herod had John the Baptist beheaded and served on a silver platter to Herodias. Why the memory of such an evil act against a person of God, King Herod was almost convinced Jesus was no other then John the Baptist, and he truly believe John the baptist has raised from the dead but he was not raised from the dead. When the disciples of John heard it they took John body and buried it.
The Jesus and the John the Baptist disciples as well as Jesus apostles went to a place privately to talk and to explain what was taught and what had happened. It was much to take in on the day of the first out cry of war against God's people. This would not be the last killing or the first abandonment of what was consider holy by a king just to please someone he like. The demonization of his actions, to pacify the woman he had affair with.
What will our leaders the next four years do, to make their party happy, will it be good for all people or only the democrats. Jesus was imparticial when it came to truth and righteousness, but when it comes to doing things to just appease people, he is not that type of Savior. He does died for our sins and does raise again to new life, but he is not the Son of God to say our sin is okay, or are ways are right because it is our free choice. Free choice has a responsibility to respect the rights of others including bill of rights of others. Yet where does the unborn have a choice to live. They have no ability to speak and so they are consider not human. There is a point there is sin God does not imputeth against his people, but there is sin that has consequences and effect others. And there rights that obstruct the health, safety, and well being of all in our nation as well as those who can not speak yet in our nation. Then there is sin that only effects the individual and no one but the individual.
King Herod only seen the lust of his eye unhappy with the preaching of John the baptist against adultery. John will to speak up lost his life, but King Herod found fear with the thought that John had come back to life. With that Jesus began to be a target not only by the Pharisees and Saducees but also the political world. Where do you stand today in the political and religious world. Do you stand for your conviction enough to love, teach and preach as Christ did without violence. Are you will ing to stand and say what Jesus spoke is worth speaking up for even today. Will you tell who Jesus truly is as a leader, teacher, preacher, prophet, Son of God, Prince of Peace, King of King and Lord of Lords? Make a commitment to God first to tell the whole story of Jesus not just the cross, not just the deliverance. Teach about love, forgivness and hope.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to pray for our nation as we continue to tell the Gospel story of Jesus of his love, forgiveness, and hope. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study:Psalm 22:8-13 KJV
8 He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.
9 But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.
10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.
11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.
12 Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.
13 They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
