Power Given To Castout

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Mark 6:7-13 KJV
7 And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;
8 And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:
9 But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
10 And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.
11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
13 And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.

Mark goes into detail that some of the Gospels does not go into. Perhaps it is to the people Mark is writting, or maybe is the fact that the power of evil spirits is defeatable by Christian community that is needed to be taught. Maybe today we need to know that the enemy is defeatable if we stand firm in faith and rebuke the powers of darkness. The powers of darkness often are seen as people of false prophecies, witchcraft, evil spirits and so forth. Many people never talk about the power he gave his disciples because one i believe people are afraid that others will think they are crazy in modern times. You hear about a minister casting out devils, and one wonders if they threw a drunk out of church. Sometimes the evil spirit comes in a suit and tie, or a dress. The evil spirit is about sinners being lost in sin and sin is desire of the heart and not love. Now if you go around teaching scripture about evil spirits fleeing most wonder what scifi movie are you watching.

Maybe I need to explain more. Cain had a evil heart, he could of at anytime chosen to obey God but he chose the ways of evil. Is heart intention was on destruction and not on good. If a person is caught in adultery, his desires were lust of his eyes, and lust of what he could not have. His intentions were display through the action of adultery. Who did the adultery hurt just the people involved in their plot or act of being alone with the wrong person, or did it effect even other family, friends and even children that saw it. The theft, the rape or cruelty to another effects more then the person committing an evil act. That evil spirit is one that cause harm and not good intentions toward others. Those are those people unless they repent need to be removed from causing harm within a church. People need not the adulterer hitting on their spouse, but need to have the peace of mind that their spouse will not have to worry about sin knocking on their door within the walls of God's house. House of God should not have the spirit of fear within it. Should not have the power of darkness rattling the doors. The fear of corona virus has caused a fear even the in the church world, homes of Christians and even the rest of the world. The bullets of armed gun men have caused not only panic in our streets, schools, churches but even our governement. Evil plaguing our nation began with a simple adultery, or some other evil act. Perhaps, but it begins with sin of a nation not committed to God, or a community not committed to the ways of God.

When the disciples were sent out to cast out evil spirits they were called to cast out sin out of the nation of Israel, preparing it for the passover lamb. Making a way for Jesus to teach love, forgiveness, hope and faith. There are times we realize not the actions effect not only our body, but the lives of those around. Imagine the adulterer bringing a sexual transmitted disease home that can not be cure and transmitting it to their family. Imagine the coronavirus being transmitting to love ones because percaustions were not taken. Imagine doing something good only to be in the same boat as the evil doer and why, because the doers care not for others. The story of helping elderly with food and grocery is all good, but with their diets can they eat what you gave them. Can they get to what you gave and provided for them. Sometimes we can not view the trouble we cause people even in our well doing.

What the point, in every action are we examining ourselves to see if we are people of love, forgiveness, hope and faith, or people of destruction. One might think of the story of where the little boy kept throwing himself in the fire and the father came and asked Jesus for help. The disciple had tried to cast out the evil spirit from the boy with no success Yet Jesus rebukes the evil spirit and the boy is delivered. What was the difference. I give you example if you see a disabled child that never corrected, never loved, never taught, beyond answer of physical need, then you see child that knows not how to behave, or know how to following simple rules. Now some children that are disabled never wil be able tol get beyond certain care needs. Yet others have potential to learn to behave, to do, to maybe not necessarily think about their actions, but are able to be more then animal or pet. Some may never work, some never will be able to provide for themselves, but they can still learn somethings within their limitations. Jesus rebuked the evil spirit, but we do not know if he rebuked only the behavior or took the evilness from the boy that caused him to fall and roll in the fire as far as evil initity. We can understand something changed int he behavior of the boy. The boy behavior was taken from him. That is a different type of thing. When God's people prays some behaviors can change and this forms of evil can be completely removed by the power of Jesus name, while others things are like treating diabetes. Have to have a regular shot or medicine to keep the sugar controlled, without it the sugar goes high or low and never where it ought to be. Sin can be an unregulated as diabetes or it can be controlled like most cases of diabetes with discipline. Does the sugar even with discipline ever go to high or to low of course, just like the discipline of a Christian might stay on target for awhile but there always be episodes of sin. God's love, forgiveness with our desire to have God mold and keep us in his will, keeps us from slipping. If we do slip we have advocator through Jesus, who promises to forgive all our sin if we confess them (I John 2:1-2).

Disciples were sent out to get rid of sin called to preach the kingdom of God is at hand and you better repent. Disciples were sent to teach and help people that were sinful, perhaps that why the adulteress woman was brought before Jesus in John 8. Yet Jesus refused to condemn her but wrote on the ground til all her accusers were gone. The forgiveness came, with showing the accusers their sin. The reality of sin not being only in the woman caught in a single act. We need to first take the log out of our own eye, before we can help remove sin from someone else, scripture declares, before judging someone else. When we recognize we all sin and what our sin is then we understand no one, not one person ever was perfect but Jesus. No one is without sin, but the forgivenss of Christ cleanses us from all sin when we confess our sin.

Casting out of evil spirits is not always initity or being, but in some cases it can be like the evil spirits cast out to the man who has an evil spirits, who spirits were sent into the herd of pigs by Jesus. The point being Jesus gave the twelve authority over evil spirits of every kind. Jesus cast out the one the disciples could not, because they need to fast and pray to get rid of the kind in the little boy. (Mark 9:20-29)

Now when Jesus sent them out he went the disciples out by twos and without food, money or extra pair of sandals.or even a suitcase. This would change when Christ went to the cross. Yet we know Jesus ministry did have a money bag because Judas kept it. The harvest was ripe for the picking of preaching of repentance of sin, and so sending the disciple forth, they would have no trouble for provision, with the teaching, preaching, healing and casting out of evil spirits, to have people who would provide for them. If they were not welcome in a town they were just to shake the dust off their feet and go to the next village. The message of Jesus is still casting out evil spirits, some in the form of our actions, some in the form of a real initity called evil spiriit. If Jesus sends you forth to preach he will equip you with the power you need. He did equip the twelve and is still equipping people today with the Holy Spirit. Yes the Holy Spirit was present at the time of Christ, despite what people think and teach. Jesus taught his disciples of the power in his name, to use his name and the enemy had to flee.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to know you will equip your people with the power to cast evil spirits out in Jesus name the initity and the teaching against the spirit of sin that plagues our world. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 1 Corinthians 5:1-13 KJV
1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.
2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.
3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,
4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

1 John 1:9-10 KJV
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
