1 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.
2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.
5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel. This story we done lately, before the holidays I believe, The story of a possessed man that no one could stop from hurting himself or others and so he wander in the graveyard at night. He would cut himself and beat himself. They did not make chains strong enough to hold him. When Jesus came by boat to his area, he came running and worshipping Jesus. Jesus cast the evil spirit out of this man and then found there to be more evil spirits then one and those demons requested to be sent into a herd of pigs and Jesus fulfilled their request and the pigs drowned. Even demons made request of Jesus and demons obeyed Jesus.
One might have to think on that awile that evil spirit before it was cast out had power to make their destination request on earth to Jesus. Yet we know it destroyed the livilihood of the pig farmers that day and they went into the village to tell all they witness, to the point the people came out of the village and asked Jesus to leave. The man that was delivered by the evil spirits wanted to remain with Jesus, but Jesus told him to go an publish what he done for him in his town and area. The man went back in his right mind to his village and word spread what Jesus had done for him. No clue if the pig farmers were rebursed or not, but we know the story became famous.
What does it take to get the word of Jesus published and famous on the things he has done for you. It cost me me to publish my story, only because I did want the money hungry people using me for money and using it as a side show. I could not keep my story of healing from pain quiet, and maybe more famous was my wreck, but that is not the point. Jesus sent the man back to explain to the village what he did for the man. Why those pigs went running over the bank.
There are people that might say you been rich if you wrote a book or went to Christian broadcasting route, and spoke in every church around for money. No that not why Jesus healed me. He healed me to give others hope that maybe they too if they wait would receive healing but always instant healing of forgiveness of sin through the cross and resurrection of Jesus. Why sometimes we are not healed immediately, why the day of salvation is always immediately, but the day of deliverance is sometimes in God's timing. When Jesus healed this man possessed by evil spirits the surrounding areas knew about this man. No doubt he bore the scars of where he cut himself and even at times beat himself, Maybe the marks of being tied down. Yet now he walked and talk in a normal manner of men.
Most that knew me knew i walked on a cane, probably even realized i could walk without it. Perhaps even understood pain i had was great enough the cane actually helped keep my balance. Yet what they knew too, I was in pain. How many prayed for my deliverance, I do not know, but the day of my healing sent me forth to share it. How could I keep that story quiet. I could not. Yet there some that wonder if pain is gone why are you not doing this or that. One i sat to long before my healing and now to long after my healing sharing what God has done for me, so I go forth to the gym and continue working out. Hoping that those muscles that no longer hurt grow stronger, and then I find out I loosing my vision and say Lord why? I decided whatever God is desiring me to do, he lead me on and I will stand and still tell the goodness of Jesus and his mercy in my life.
If I could share anything is Jesus still saves and does miracles. Sometimes we still have to go to doctors and be delivered from cancer, but God created doctors to have knowledge on how to treat people. If we believe God is still in the miracle business, does it mean we never seek physician for wellness, the answer is no, question is why? God used man's tools to instruct the building of the ark. God uses medicine to help in healing. Some physicians are nothing but witch doctors, but those that study science has learn many things God knows about the human body and how to treat it. Some disease uncurable by man and it does take an act of God for healing. And something God choose to heal for mirace to be a testimony to others, and there times others die leaving love one of faith behind for a purpose as well, to testify of God strength through the storm of loss of a love one. Something are for the benefit of others. Those pig farms suffered for one man's deliverance.
We can not deny God grace, but we often deny God's power in our life because we fail to realize his power all around us, putting the puzzle pieces of our life back together to become one beautiful puzzle for him. Can we glorify God in the way he puts our life together to honor him, even in our storms. Can we see God's ability to forgive without his power being so demonstrated, perhaps not. Faith is interesting, something we need more then a miracle to see God's ability to do more then we ask. Yet God's marvelous grace enables us to not only fail but to pick us up, when we fail to understand his grace.
God's grace was on the man healed in the story above, but the people could only see the pigs tell the man walked into the village testifying of the miracle Jesus did in his life of casting out of the demons. All they could see was the pig farmers side of things. Sometimes we need the panaromic view of a story to understand hope.
Dear Heavenly Father help us to understand the power of your grace in our personal storms and our deliverances. Your power to save our soul being the greatest gift through your Son and all other miracles as testimony of your power. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study:2 Corinthians 1:2-7 KJV
2 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
6 And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
7 And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
