29 And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
30 But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her.
31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.
32 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils.
33 And all the city was gathered together at the door.
34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.My first thoughts is what kind of mother in law did Simon have? Second what was exactly wrong with her? Three had they realized Jesus could heal at this point? The biggest crisis in a person life is usually the realization comes of the reality of God. That the God of heaven cares about not only them by sending a Savior, but also has the power to heal. Why a crisis, because in truth when we pray, we do not always receive from God what we want exactly. Many pray for healing only to loose someone special to them.Yet if that person is saved they just walked into paradise where the fountian of living water resides and they are made whole. Is our own need out weighing what best for someone that is ill. Many of us that have fought dreadful things to live to tell about it, might not in someways fought as hard or as diligently if we had understood what paradise was, nor would we desire a believer to remain here in this world if opportunity presents itself to go home to be with Jesus. Yet Jesus did miracles throughout his ministry. If God's will for healing to occur, then we need to praise him, because he still in our mist throught he Holy Spirit, and is testifying to us of his power right where we prayed and heard the news of healing, deliverance and so forth.
In the story in Mark one can only imagine Peter and his brethern coming in as if to impose company on someone that is greatly ill at the moment. That moment of you just got home to find someone of the house is sick. Perhaps this house was not to large to do a lot of entertaining with someone being sick. In other words lets be quiet in the house because of this sick person. One can almost picture Simon wife coming up kissing him on the cheek and maybe even a gentle hug, whispering in his ear my mother is sick and she in the next room, do we have to have company this afternoon, i have been waiting on her all morning. She told Simon Anon(immediately), when he enter the house. Maybe even to protect his friends and him from becoming sick, encase it was contagious. See Simon speaking to his brethren including Jesus and saying I sorry but I guess you going to have to go home, but mother in law is greatly ill. Jesus saying take me to her. Jesus takes her by the hand and lifts her up and the fever leaves her body and she begins to wait on them.
What was the reason of her healing for her to minister to those in her house. To fix them dinner and wait on her company's needs. By ministering to those there, she was celebrating what Jesus had done for her by healing her. By evening time word had spread to other house in the area, and the city was gather at the door because the healing power of Jesus. He would heal many that were sick and cast out devils. He also did not allow devils to speak because they knew him.
With every healing there is a purpose to glorify God, and God was glorified all over that city to the point they sought Jesus to see this teacher who had power to heal and cast out demons. A large revival had taken place because of one healing, that became more then one healing. There be more healing with one healing, more victories because of one healing, because God was drawing a crowd by his power and might through one healing.
Will one healing today bring about revival today, maybe, maybe not, it depends on how will known or how loud God's people can shout and make a noise to glorify the working power of Jesus. Skeptics today will question a healing, but question more if they know scripture what is the meaing of this healing, let us get behind what God is wanting to do should be our response and gather the people to Jesus. Gather those who will believe for revival. Draw the crowd and allow the preaching and prayer line to begin, let us not shut the door on what God wants to do. If God heals and delivers broadcast spread it and hold those revivals, because God wants to reunite not only his people, but draw all men to himself. How does God draw people to him, through miracles, wonders, and his mighty power to do marvelous things on the earth. Jesus went forth to do the will of God in the lives of the people by doing miracles, wonders and demonstrating God's mighty power.
For a believer revival begins at the heart with rejoicing. For a non believe it comes with lets go see what all the hub bub is about. Let go see what happening to see if we to might beleive. Let us go see the side show so to speak and decide if we believe this power is real, and so they brought others all around that were sick with all kinds of diseases to see if they would be healed too and some were. We can not miss the opportunity, to reach out and pray and see what God will do, if we pray in faith for those around us. We are not Jesus, but Jesus is still in the healing business, and with healing comes revival. God will draw all people to him and to His Son, through the power of his Son, and not the power of man. Immediately there is revival if nothing more in the heart of the one that is healed and those that witness it. They knew too the power of God.
Dear Heavenly Father, send your revival to your people, let them rejoice and share what Jesus have done for themselves and others. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
